Currently I have a lot to do at work and the turn is too complex for me to finish tonight. Unfortunately I need a timer extension.

I'll take the moment to mention I'll be gone this weekend. Those who know my play pattern know I rarely go on long vacations (small kids), but we always go up north for Memorial Day.

I really enjoyed the last week with more free time and without stress to make my move in PB66. Since my private and professional situation will continue to be very stressful in the coming weeks and months, I wanted to ask how it looks with you. Personally, I can hardly imagine that a player can and will stand out from the other players for the rest of the game. But I can understand if you guys would like to keep playing. When else do you get the chance to play a modern war in Civ4? Of course, I would then try to continue playing as best as possible with limited time, at least until a replacement or clear leader is found.
I'm sorry to come up with this topic in such an advanced game. I had always hoped and also planned to finish started games myself. Especially private circumstances make it quite difficult for me at the moment.
For today I would also need an extension, then I can finish my turn tomorrow on the train.

Extended the turn at least. Posting thoughts in our thread.

This game is intense and certainly an area of multiplayer civ that rarely gets played at parity / near enough parity. There is a reason PB59 ground to a halt though. It takes a large amount of time. I can basically play a non complicated turn in my entire amount of free time for the day if I don't hang out with my wife, friends, or do anything else (glares at dishes).
I'm fine with slowing the game down, but I realize not everyone may be. I know I felt pretty bad about even inadvertently doing so / going to do so. I'm also fine with whatever people are feeling though.

I strongly prefer to play the game to some sort of conclusion but I think we should accept a very slow turn pace and make it a normal thing to, say, play turns in separate sessions over 2-3 days. I personally do not have much problem with it, it is not like we are in any kind of hurry.
Alternatively, I suggest we award victory to the current score leader.

I think you might try to advertise for a replacement. The game is poorly reported and lurked, so we might even be able to find someone unspoiled (admittedly, I would be very uncomfortable if someone who had access to my thread took your place). It would be a shame, however, if a different player takes over after you. It would be extremely hard to find anyone able to do justice to the amazing work you have done with your civ so far.

I would rather slow than replacement. Except for maybe Piccadilly? My understanding was that Pic was teaming with you?

I am thinking of another solution to our situation: introduce an "always peace" home rule. By which I mean to end all ongoing wars immediately and prohibit all future ones. I understand that this is an exotic idea and normally I would be strongly against anything like that. I am fully aware that it greatly benefits some of the players and severely penalizes others. But it will greatly simplify the game and if our choice is between this, proceeding at snail pace and leaving the game unfinished, this option can be at least considered.

That does sound interesting, but I'd have to sleep on it.
