If you don't grant OB, then that works right?
To be fair, Creative makes Theaters cheap, so I guess that helps. But it still seems like a weird build, especially with first ring resources.

To note, that theatre is >1000 years old.
Yes, exactly. Charriu wisely figured this out before me and rejected my OB offer.

NOPE, we're not allowing this.
This guy... Is he always so insufferable to play with? To recap, the rules sheet clearly states City Trading is "1 city per peace deal." He refused my attempt to take 2 cities in a peace deal, and then a mere days later gifts/trades a city to Bing with no peace deal?
From the rules. That's clearly not acceptable, especially as Bing is Charriu's other neighbor and therefore has an impact on the situation. Under normal circumstances I'd be ok with this, but no chance after he rule sticklered me just a few days ago and then turned around and did this without saying a word hoping I wouldn't notice.

Could you log in and check of there was a war-peace involved, and which cities are affected?

I did verify there was no war-peace, but I'm not clear what city is affected. You know, I might be able to figure that out, let me look.

It must be this one.

The proposed solution from him is fine. I asked him at first whether the city was gifted or sold because you cannot "sell" a city in a peace deal, but I realized with diplo there's really nothing stopping you from getting the gold back after peace goes through, so I decided not to press on that. He didn't want to answer whether it was gifted or sold, which obviously means sold.
The warpeace solves it as this trade allowed him to skirt trashing his trade routes with Bing which have been untouched all game, unlike his routes with everyone else in the game. That's a pretty significant cost, so warpeacing now just means he got 1 free turn of strong trade route commerce, although it'll take 1T longer to return, so I decided not to contest it further. Thanks Tarkeel (and whoever else) for looking at this, think we're good.
Finally, consider this another notch in my "don't make restrictive rules" opinion. Still think both my deal a few turns ago and his trade now are totally reasonable deals, but they're both clearly illegal here because people are afraid of entire empire gifting I guess?

Yeah.
It definitely would be.
Why? I dunno, it sounded fun. That really is part of it. I do think this gives me the chance to better my position. And I know his army is tied up in the south with the Charriu situation, and these cities are very lightly defended all things considered. I also sent this to Bing because I'm not really interested in total war.
Quote:Hey, so our NAP expired this turn, so I declared and moved a bunch of units next to Awlil and Awdaghost and also some units on boats along the coast. It's definitely enough for both and then some. To have any hope of challenging Mjmd in any way I need a couple more cities, so this is my only possible angle. I would have offered peace for those two cities, but that is apparently not allowed. However, I'll essentially offer peace, a long NAP, and any aid needed (such as gold or regifting the captured luxury back) in exchange for those two cities. I can also try to help you capture some of Charriu's cities if Mjmd doesn't get there first.
Let me know what you think. If you want to just fight it out and see what happens instead, totally get it. If you are interested in the peace deal, my offer would be basically empty Awlil, and then I'll capture and offer Awdaghost for peace and not attack any units. (And I'll gift the worker back that I captured.) If there's any additional stipulations that would make this better, I'm open to a lot.
No idea if he'll want to deal or not. Probably not, but he does have the chance to take some Charriu cities so it would make sense. Mjmd and I agreed on a warpeace in a couple turns, so I'm fully prepared for him to tear up that agreement because it's "inconvenient" now but hey that would give me the right to a couple more days of diplo reputation assassination in my thread, so I'M GOOD EITHER WAY.

It's really unfortunate that there probably won't be another diplo game here for years to come, since against my expectation, it sounds (from your posts here and what Charriu posted in the CtH thread) like you and Charriu are actually having a lot of fun! I love the spirit in which you've played (including taking over and rescuing the game from a second oblivion in the first place...) all the way. Do you think there's a best-case scenario where you actually win this thing, or is it more just a matter of having a good time while it lasts?
