Not really. I didn't intend to play this game all that seriously, and when I saw the land difference between what I got (dry plains) and what both my neighbors got (flood plain valleys) the mentality became "fuck it".
I might have taken the first Thoth peace if I had been playing, but I don't begrudge scooter for wanting to look around. And if I had taken the Thoth peace then it would have been to throw that army at Commodore.
As for that lush land, it wasn't going to save me earlier and it's not going to save me now. It's too far and my expenses are too high. I'm building Wealth in my highest 2 mfg cities just to stay afloat. One reason I built armies instead of settlers was I needed several hundred gold to get to Currency and the only way to get that was razing cities. If my capital had started closer to those green lands and I had been able to settle them early it would have been a different story
