You know this is going to be crazy, here's to a great game until the heartbreaking drama that ends it right before the thrilling final conclusion.

My theme is going to be Avalon Hill, with a particular focus on the wargames but maybe the occasional traditional board game as well:

I'll be using this post to link significant posts/events here as the game goes on, until I get bored with the idea or I forget. Anyone have any questions and comments to get started? I love these crazy things.

Before the combos get rolled in, I might as well say what I'm hoping for, I really hope to be able to play with Industrious, it's been a long time. I know it's hard to land wonders in a game this big, but I've got the juice to do it, and those forges/national wonders are nice. Of course, Financial is the One True Trait on Big and Small maps, unless you manage a rare middle position on a big...beyond that, much as I enjoy it, I think I'm good for Spiritual after the last few games.

So I got:
Quote:Justinian of Carthage
...which, while a perfectly fine combo for the format...

...means I'll be rerolling just for a chance at "something other than Spiritual".

You'll also likely get a few leaders to choose from, assuming someone locks in.

Hopefully. Looks like we can lock just one element of the picks, so I definitely will be considering Carthage, always a great pick in a Big and Small map.

We’re also here to speculate, so I’m going to speculate a bit:
Quote:Gavagai is Huayana Capac OR Hannibal OR Victoria of Maya
Superdeath is Frederick OR Louis XIV OR Asoka of Native America
Greenline is Mao Zedong OR Mansa Musa OR Lincoln of Persia
Magic Science is Ramassess II OR Willem van Oranje OR Ragnar of Mali
Dreylin is Mehmed II OR Gilgamesh OR Montezuma of Portugal
Plemo is Stalin OR Churchill OR Catherine of Vikings
Scooter is Pericles OR Elizabeth OR Washington of Japan
Bing is Alexander OR Napoleon OR Lieu Ye (ORG/PRO) of Babylon
Piccadilly is Tokugawa OR Sitting Bull OR Bismarck of India
Miguelito is Hatsheput OR Darius OR Roosevelt of Egypt
Tarkeel is San Martin (CRE/CHA) OR Julius Caesar OR Isabella of Germany
General Kill Cavalry is Nebuchadnezzar (PHI/IND) OR Hammurabi OR Suleiman of France
GT is Brennus OR Kublai Khan OR Charlemagne of Zululand
Pindicator is Shaka OR Zara Yaqob OR Saladin of Sumeria
Hubabl is De Gaulle OR Augustus Caesar OR Qin Shi Huang of Khemer
Xist10 is Pacal II OR Wang Kon OR Cyrus of Rome
Donovan Zoi is Boudica OR Genghis Khan OR Suryvarman II of Inca
Amicalola is Gandhi OR Peter OR Joao II of Arabia
Gavagai is probably going to lock one of his Financial leaders, I’d do Hannibal of Maya for the ridiculous happy, but Gav likes Ind so HC might happen. Maya is going to be start-dependent.

Superdeath is a Native Americans lock, suspect he rerolls his leader.

Greenline has the excellent Persia, wonderful UU and techs. Mansa has to be tempting to him, but he might reroll out of Spiritual fears.

Magic Science must be thrilled, Willem of Mali is an easy lock.

Dreylin is probably happy with Mehmed, and Portugal is nice enough if he has a fish start, otherwise he’ll reroll civ.

Plemo seems like a “take what you get” guy. Cathy of Vikings is reasonable, but he’s from a different enough metagame that Stalin is an off chance.

Scooter is going to have a struggle between Washington or Elizabeth. I think Japan gets rerolled unless techs for his start are weird.

Bing is chill, I think he takes the easy Lieu Ye of Babylon and is happy.

Piccadilly is going to love having India, he might pair them with Bismarck for early wonder sweep(s).

Miguelito has to be happy with Egypt. I’d do Darius in a heartbeat, but Miguelito likes Ind, might go for Roosevelt.

Tarkeel should probably throw the whole fish back, honestly….might take Julius of Germany for the synergy if the start allows it, though.

General Kill Cavalry will probably embrace Nebuchadnezzar of France, that’s a good opportunity.

GT, I have no idea about…I’d go for Kublai of Zulu myself, but no idea about his playstyle.

Pindicator is going to lock down Sumeria so fast his enter button catches fire, the civ doesn’t have the ridiculous RtR buffs but it’s still the best civ in the game. No idea if he gets one of the “okay but not inspiring” leaders or not.

Hubabl is another cypher. Khmer is good techs, eh uniques. Meanwhile, there’s a pretty good argument for each one of those leaders, but none of the set my world on fire.

Donovan Zoi is rusty, but not so rusty that he’s going to ignore the beautiful Sury of Inca setup.

Amicalola is easily one of the most interesting players here and his rolls are very interesting as well. Arabia is an easy lock on a later religion which is very valuable, particularly with a Philosophical leader. Gandhi is probably the double-down pick that wants the AP, while Peter on the other hand has more balance.

Are Immortals that good?

Love the speculation.

I love them, being able to take on crossbows and longbows/being able to get defensive bonuses gives them an incredibly long lifespan.
