Quote:4. Misreading Xist/SD's intentions. Given how Aetryn attacked and probably ruined their chances earlier, I thought that Xist would rather play kingmaker against Aetryn instead of me. Instead, all of his defenses were concentrated in my direction, and Bing and Aetryn did nothing but walk into empty cities. Ultimately, I also ended up capturing a fair number of empty cities, but the threat of the mega stack Xist had was my problem to deal with.

This is hilarious, especially given the stack wipe Aetryn recieved.

I do find the sequence with Bing weird, especially the second war. It feels really unlikely there were 10t between his attacks.

Also, Bing seems to have fallen back squarely into the pack. I wonder how that happened? Makes me feel a bit bad that we all asked civac to back off so much.

This game proves that yes, it IS possible to have a turn pace too good for the game to be lurkable.

Not much lurker attention, but it does feel the exciting phase has passed. Green line is spent (but should revolt out of Mercantalism to get his corp back), Bings army is fading, and Aetryn has a tech, corps, city, and specials (Kremlin) lead. Green line is unlikely to turn on him (unless he razes Creation, which he would not be happy about), and he should easily be able to take on Bing, especially as the mass upgrades fade into irrelevance.

Btw, I think Bing might be planning an EP economy, which would be interesting. If so, Aetryn should cut borders.

"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. [Image: noidea.gif] In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

Don't we often say no to certain missions, but not all?

This were the settings at game start.
Ramk disabled the “No City Trading” but the rest should be the same.

So no Spies and no possibility to created a EP economy.
- And CtH disabled a few too ?

Seems like Bing's reload request is based on an action willingly taken after misunderstanding game mechanics

Personally I believe that is grounds for a reload*, but I know that I am "reload happy" and other people have expressed the view that reloads should be exclusively for fat fingering.

*its also on his turn but idk if any combat has happened*
Peace is non-negotiable

I would support the reload, but happy to be swayed by others.

Re: aetryn's last paragraph in his latest post, approval rate ends up being a pretty weird demographic because a low rating can mean either high-pop cities at the happy cap, or whipping/drafting down to a lesser or greater degree (stacking up the whip penalty but removing pop doesn't move the indicator in the short run, so you really have to go back to score changes anyway), and there's no direct incentive to having high approval. IIRC even the "we love the leader day" roll doesn't factor in excess happiness, so it's more or less flavor text on the F9 screen.
