The long term favors us, so try to keep it calm and if necessary trade space for time.

Aetryn and us were racing ahead of Bing's tech when he stupidly locked himself in HR - now he is in Free Market / Rep and doesn't have to sit and work 2/0/2 coast with his extra pop. Having statue is good and all, but Aetryn will have a bunch of juicy cities in Xistland to grab and he doesn't have Bing going for a forever war on several fronts to deal with. Bing didn't advance for now after burning Metamorphosis, so we are getting time at least. We will have a shot at cereals again soon when the next GP comes in. (Both Bing and Aetryn seem to be going down the Astronomy line. Curious ...) Another city lost, this one expected, given the awful positioning. The silver lining is the capital culture will make it useless for bing economically. I was able to Dunkirk out some rifles and bing at least lost a more expected number of units. I am hoping that I will have enough time to reinforce the core with INFANTRY and CANNONS this time to prevent any further bleeding. Will have to be wary of future naval attacks from bing in this end, but his shipbuilding capacity is limited. Founded a city for our one oil resource. In 15 turns this will actually become pretty valuable, with a bunch of forests to turn into free specialists. Will the game still be competitive in 15 turns? Rolled an engineer on the great person wheel, so no cereals for now. Another GP comes in 9t. I will try and get it to be a merchant. We can probably rush Cristo or RockNRoll with the engineer.
the decline and fall of the (eastern) roman empire continues, as aetryn decides to pile on. Conquered xistland is doomed - i pulled troops out of there to focus on guarding huckleberry fin. Aetryn is also invading the northwest corner, which will be hard to defend. Because bing is piling his entire doomstack towards creation. but i at least have forces preparing to meet him there.
pictures will come maybe later when i am not feeling exhausted from waking up early and driving four hours My screenshot of the area around Anathem didn't take, but there is a huge infantry stack there too. My silly fleet of galleys won't do to reinforce there. Oh well. Why did he raze and replace to found on the pig? Life is full of mysteries. I don't want to keep bitching at the map constantly, because that is probably annoying for the few lurkers following the game to read. A lot of what led to the current situations were mistakes of my own making. But - I am the only player that has had to reinforce these cities over water. Every other player had land available to expand in that was entirely reachable over land. This is in addition to me having mainly tundra and the worst set of luxuries, and low food. It's not an unplayable start, but it has taken by far the most amount of elbow grease, and you can see what has happened when I stopped putting in the elbow grease. The main show. This time we attack out. Losing Creation means losing the game for sure.
It's not annoying to me.
Sorry how things are going

Why did he raze this city? Does he not see oil? Is he deliberately trying to get the minimum value from his conquests? His stack in Xistland is going nowhere, just guarding his stupid city settled on the pig. Whatever. I just hope Aetryn has the sense to concede after Bing lands himself a shrine + minInc HQ. |
