...like Tarkeel being up the jungle isthmus northwest.

Updated the micro. Still settling in the same sequence, but being a little more aggressive: 3 gets settled only three turns after 2.

Axe follows shortly after; looks like the scout can just hang out around there until the settlement, so that's some screening.

Of course, the longer Bing takes to settle, the more I worry about his own pink dotting (note the 3 is actually at the precise midpoint between our capitals).

After 4 gets settled need to toss down the southern dot for gold/ivory working, we want the luxuries badly.

Pindicator double-moved me to declare war, cheating. rant

It's fine, just a note for future mannar.

Bing, meanwhile, is perplexing me with his settling plan here, but it does mean we have a shot at that Sheepy Border Spot.

I mean 1NE of where the settler is currently is a pretty solid city. I definitely think he will be mad about Sheepy Border as it cuts off his marble/access to the Floodplains in that corner. Starting to agree with your assessment of Bing as a horse archer snack...

So, we land Pottery next turn and then we're not pressed for tech until settling that ivory city in ~15t. Hunting is only 4t, so we have time to take a swing at Polytheism (9t) if we want. Pindicator landed Meditation and was tricky; he picked Hinduism, which might mean one or two people not paying attention might be ignoring the available religion there. What do you think, Oxy?

I like it, the idea is already to beeline monarchy so it's far from wasted research. Would be especially good if timing lined up with settling city 2: love a good culture bomb in contested lands.

Might be wasted beakers short-term, but long term it's fine either way, point.

Turn 40 Stonehenge for Gavagai (Fin/Ind of England). That's not a record, but it's definitely extremely early.

Six turns on our own quixotic risk gambit.

Lost the religion, not particularly upset about it.

I'm much more concerned with the timing on this reach of a midway city. Which, now that I think about it, has to be named Midway, right?
