Psilons overrated?

On a small map it is more difficult to exploit the incompetent behavior of AI

That's fair. But it's also fair to just say that different races do better on different map settings. The mrrshans, alkari, bulrathi etc do better on small maps while the psilons/klackons/meklar do better on the large maps.

I agree that Klackons definitely require more space and expand faster. Same about Sakkra.
I disagree about Meklar because they are expanding slowly. They and Psilon feels good when isolated.
I disagree about Mrrshan and Alkari, because they are simply much stronger, if not completely isolated, which is more often the case on smaller maps. Huge map helps them compensate bad tech rolls and become immortals.
Bulrathi and Darlok requires interaction to make early profits, so i agree
UPD: Also, I'm not sure, but Bulrati probably have a way to become monsters in the late game through invasions. I'll try to play this when I'm done with the big map improvements in 1oom
UPD2: Based on the 1oom game_turn_transport_shoot function, it looks like there are some significant bugs related to Bulrathi that can be exploited.
UPD3: In any case, it seems that as Psilon, Klackon or Alkari it is much easier to start immortal invasions.

This is why a huge map is beneficial for Alkari or Mrrshan. Completely isolated start

I prefer to play average size, impossible. And I think combat races are strongest on any map/difficulty. With mrrshans being on top. They do however require more skill and knowledge than other races. Combat races basically allowing you to choose what planets you want for yourself.
The bigger the map the faster you can get to toys and shipdesign advantage.
I think the problem most people have with cats and combat races in general is that they are doing things without specific plan.

Meanwhile, I lost about 10k small ships in battles with Silicoids using the Pulsar + Tech Nullifier + Warp Dissipator combination
Still winning the map https://youtu.be/N5-Nve_EeKU

If you are playing 1oom, you have the option to disable the minimum accuracy for the Megabolt Cannon and High Tech Missiles. This makes Alkari the strongest race for attacking missile bases.

Wouldn't you have to add that in though, so it's actually intended? Base MOO has too many bugs though (AI wrong choice of objective bug being the worst), so I would consider the unofficial patch version of the game to be the "true" version.

Could you make a tier list too? The list would be heavily biased towards small maps because the only objective measure in this game is the risk of dying as there is no MP or scoring system (lol). And dying isn't likely on larger maps. But that's okay.
