I find this deeply hilarious given Donavons opening:

Of the options I'm going to straight veto purple and green. Purple is a crime against civ asking to crush a 4/2/1 tile, its very exposed, and it will almost certainly lose that second cow to a city from Metal planting it first ring (its what I would do). Green has starts with one forest and no food in first ring, has an awkward culture battle for its first ring tiles. It's antagonistic while neither being strong short term or long term.

There is a difference between a 4th city and 2nd. I didnt mind donovan's opening. It's what he did with it I didn't like.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to quoting it at them when they (everntually) get maps to his cities.

Sigh Greenline. I can SOMEWHAT understand settling for first ring gold instead of first ring copper and just hoping spears never show up. HOWEVER, if you were going to do that, you need to be researching IW instead of writing > math. Or go HBR.

He makes it sound like the spear suiciding is likely, it actually has good odds to win.

I also think the best city spot is NE of the pig with 2nd ring wet corn. Just a lot safer.

t59 is far too late to have no metal and no Archery. I want one or the other by t50 at the latest.

Were there any rules on settler races for this game other than "good luck"?

Mjmd subbing for greenline did switch the order, but I'm not sure either knew they were in a race at that point; now that Piccadillly is aware, are they obliged to maintain the new turn order?

OK, setting was "coin flip for turn order when realized", which I guess is now this turn.

Mjmd, do you think the map was too small in retrospect? That seems to be the consensus. Likely a result of the tile count in islands.

Uh, Tarkeel's capital and second city are just dead here, aren't they? He doesn't appear to have copper hooked or the ability to emergency whip anything other than a warrior.
