[PB74] Far East, GT goes bananas

He didn't accepted peace but sent two axes and a warrior instead.

I should be having three axes ready (and some more) once he reaches my capital with his two axes. Not sure what such a rush is about, he's killing my game but his game as well. Unless he rolls crazy lucky, he won't have any chance on a 1:1 with vanilla axes against AGG axes on hills and 40% defense..

And a third Roman axe became visible. I should still be able to hold my capital. Not sure what he is trying to do. Utter nonsense. Destroying both our games..

The Indian in the North and Japanese in the South West must be happy..

After the war is before the war..

Glorious Kublai Khan won against the Romans, then Scooter decided it's a good idea to leave an unprotected worker (and two warriors nearby) - and even more interesting, an undefended city.

Couldn't resist. Grabbed the worker. Then had a bit of a dilemma.

Raze the city? Or protect the worker?

I decided to just pillage the camp, and protect the worker.

Situation

I was thinking to offer peace to scooter immediately, but decided against it. If he attacks my Impi, I might still be able to raze the city if I win. Or he can offer me peace, basically accepting that his worker is lost :D

After the ressource-intense war with the evil Korean-Roman, I could use a free worker..

He killed my Impi with his two warriors.

In hindsight, destroying his city (and denying him the chance to kill my Impi with both warriors) would have been better I guess..

But I really wanted that worker, and I could just imagine him killing his own worker to deny it from me if I had done is.

Razed city, lost worker, that would have made for REALLY bad neighbors..

At least this way - he lost a warrior, I lost my Impi, and the burned camp - the harm done to either side isn't too big, and we hopefully won't see each other as arch enemies now.. it was an attempt, and it failed frown

How are things going?

Peaceful settling phase, seems after the initial failed rush by the Roman he's kinda given up on harassing me, and I've given up on harassing the Japanese..

Game has been fairly slow as some players needed extensions..

My army is decent, and I'm settling/using my land as good I can. So, it's a boring play phase right now..

Those players without one (or two) early wars for sure will be ahead economically.. but I'm not doing too bad.

Will try to get to catapults as soon as possible, as they're both an offensive weapon as well as a defensive insurance.

Still having the issue that I can't upload pictures, but decided to include some through an external hoster, as otherwise it's difficult to follow my text I guess..

This is the "South" of my Empire. Capital is Istana, in the South we've Raffles Place, and slightly ulu (remote) we've got Yishun. Yes, Yishun is settled very aggressively towards Scooter, but he seems to be a very peaceful leader (jk, I'm reading his stories on other PBs, he did accept fish-for-fish though, and since my Impi-Rush was an utter failure, he hopefully accepts my settlement. Plus having much more power, and 3 axes in the city..

Yishun will be linked up with the rest of my Empire fairly soon. (Didn't want to road through neutral land with Japanese and Roman warriors around)
Raffles Place is producing a settler. (For spot "Prio 2") - will use the whip here, as I've two not-improved fields being worked. Production is good, though.

Istana is finishing a workboat this turn, then will create a worker.

This is the North. Kranji is my newest city. (For those that know what's in Kranji, the horses nearby do make sense wink )

The work boat will be for the Kranji fish. I'll have a worker improving the horses soon, will be a typical "whip-production" city during the next 20-30 turns or so after that.

As you can see, the Indian settled VERY aggressively, he's having tons of cities..

Lucky Plaza, decent city that can right now just work 3 tiles really well (and the non-fresh water rice stinks..) - will also use the whip here from time to time for sure.

Bigger picture of "my" island. Will want to settle that asap as "Prio 3", after my "Prio 2" city.. Northern place would include the beaver from the mainland, and could share the fish AND allow for a second city in the South. Location will depend on ressources..

As you can imagine, after Mathematics, it will be Sailing next. I want boots on the ground on the island. My scout will turn back from his current trip across Indian lands eventually to pop the hut, hopefully some neat tech like construction or currency in it (one can dream...) - need to calculate how quickly I'll get sailing and a boat constructed, so he isn't too early or late back home..

In short, I'll give the Roman (despite his early rush attempt) some space to expand, which is mostly mediocre land - but I don't intend to settle aggressively towards him. Hopefully he'll eventually agree on a 2vs1 against the Indian, who is ahead of us - but nothing some Roman Legions (I hate the word Praetorian, just doesn't make sense) can't fix :D Would be glad to share the Indian lands with him eventually.. but we'll see, maybe he tries to go against me.. I suppose the Indian will not be aggressive for the next 40-50 turns or so, as he grabbed way more land than the rest of us, and will develop it peacefully.

The Japanese, Scooter, well, I've put him a bit in the corner as it seems. Hope I can manage that, or that he gets more land elsewhere to expand. But if not, I'll have enough troops available there to give him a bloody nose. Yishun isn't in a hill, but behind a river.

The other 2 city spots (the semi-Jungle one in the middle, and the very Southerly - designated Moai) - will not be very urgent to settle. I'll definitely not stop the settlers, just after the "Prio2" city, I'll try to grow a bit, till I can get the island settled, and only after that, it's time for those 2 spots. But they're good enough for cities, just not GREAT.

Assuming the island isn't THAT large, and two cities on it make sense due to bonus ressources yet to be found on/around it, I'll eventually have 10 cities - that's the plan, at least. There is space for a city north of Lucky Plaza, but that one would be right between Rome and India, and very hard to defend, plus before Calendar, it wouldn't really be useful much, and even with Calendar taking a while to become profitable..

10 decent cities is my target here. I'm not doing GREAT, but I hope I'll be able to tech faster than my neighboors, and getting opportunities to expand further once I've settled those 10 cities and developed a bit.

Singaporean naming theme? Is Marina Bay coming up soon?

thanks for the update
Did you intend to keep the images in very poor quality or is that the image-hosters fault?

If you click on the pictures, they should come up in a new tab/window on the hosted side, where another click should enlarge them. Apologies, but for some reasons, I can't host them here. It worked originally, but since a few weeks ago, it stopped working. Tried different browsers, computers, all the same, must be something with my account I guess..

No lah dancing

I'm living in Singapore myself, so it's just a fun way for me to try to find local appropriate names for my cities. Yishun, which was set very aggressively towards Scooter, has the name of being the most aggressive neighborhood in Singapore. Kranji for the horse racing that happens there (horses next to it on the map). Lucky Plaza.. because got so many foreign domestic workers* there (a permanent Roman warrior spy.. should be a Pinoy spy, but I guess xist isn't playing along :D ) - and also because it's along Orchard Road (= dancing  on the map)

Istana, because it's the seat of the President of Singapore, so kinda logical to be my capital. Raffles Place, as it's the "first landing"/first new city, and a bit away from the action, like the CBD. It's just a fun game for myself..

* Actually, it's a good place to eat cheap pinoy food when at Orchard Road, but avoid going on weekends, especially Sundays!
