I'm not sure if the is a difference between A and B.
The passes seems to be okay.
Distance for the mana provinding uniques too. I counted tiles, so how the warrior walks.
P3 has a bit of an problem, because P3 has to walk around the mountains - the 2 passes for P3 are near the border area, for the other players the pass is more "secure". But I don't think you can imporve this easy.
And I have no idea how to balance barbs - especially in FFH (or EitB) which add on barbs.

Yeah. I have an idea that might help a little, but we'll see.

I didn't mean to try balancing barbs exactly, but I realized barb animals - including special FFH barb animals like hill giants(!) - never walk on resource tiles or tile improvements (including e.g. Dungeons!) except when attacking. So I shifted some resources around a little to give them legal paths that don't cut off barb animals from any player's immediate neighborhood or trap one in a small "box."
[EDIT: Also, thanks for the reminder, Kaiser; I had intended to post about that in the signup thread but never did until just now!]
In case Bing confirms at a time when I'm not available (and in case anyone wants to comment more; these have changed somewhat from the above) here are the current versions of the starts, to randomly match with and post into players' threads when all are ready:
[EDIT: I've updated a couple of the screenshots, though the differences are only superficial. I also rolled civs and their appropriate leaders for each start, then rolled a player to assign to each start so that in case two helpful people post pictures and picks into everyone's threads at the same time unbeknownst to each other, they'll still be posting the same ones.]

Fog-gazing is always dangerous, but the fog should no longer actively lie: These screenshots were taken from the finalized map. If anyone asks, you can post the overall map size to the tech thread too: 64 wide by 40 high with cyllindrical wrap. Nominal world size is standard since that appears to be what was used last game for the same number of players.
I've updated the preceding post with an up-to-date starting screenshot and first three civ+leader rolls for each player, so whenever Bing creates a thread (or Dreylin replaces him and does so) they can each just be posted to the relevant threads. And in case anyone wants to look over the now-finished map to make sure I'm not crazy or missing something horrible, or in case I disappear off the face of the earth between now and when the game starts and they need someone else to start the game, or in case you just feel like playing along at home as a lurker, here's a link to the Worldbuilder file!
No, I don't think increasing everyone's tech costs and building requirements and the various other effects of changing the map size would make sense just to make one of the eighteen civs in the game more attractive, especially after we know who rolled them as a possibility. Thanks for the suggestion though; if it weren't so late in the process, I'd have wanted to look into the question more than this.
Also: I'm now posting starts and choices to people's threads!
Tebryn would get Mysticism, each of the others would have a choice between AH and Calendar. (The tech(s) to which their civ's normal starting tech is the only prereq.)
