[No players] Big epic lurking - PB74

(November 29th, 2023, 23:07)RefSteel Wrote: It looks like DZ's plan has hit its first crippling snag already, possibly saving him from initiating a self-dogpile.  Reading between the lines of the various threads (Gavagai's being the key one) it looks to me like Metal attacked out and killed at least seven of DZ's units - enough to effectively shred the Incan offensive.  DZ even recognized the threat of something like this - he said he was kicking himself for failing to add melee stack defenders to support his northern mounted units, though I suspect he may have underestimated the danger to his southern stack, positioning it to hit Miguelito and forgetting the importance of still protecting it from his current war enemy, and it's even possible he lost one of his Galleys - but just how much damage he suffered remains to be seen....

Yeah I think you're right about the Southern stack; all metal needs to have done is road the "G" spot (Heh) and he can hit Donovan's stack with both of his own Southern forces. I think Donovan said it was Axe/Spear/4xChariot and metal has twice the units available. I'm less sure about him attacking the Northern stack though, as he doesn't seem to have the strength of numbers (or number of spears) to try to break through 3HA to the juicy Chariot core.

DZ still wants to throw himself at Mig. Despite scouting that (a) Mig has copper on the other side and (b) has high MFG to produce his efficiently-trading WCs.

He's also not prioritising resettling the region; he'll lose that site he wants while he's off throwing units at Miguelito.

Hmm... with Migs overview map, I just now realise how donovans lands would have looked like in case he really conquered egypt up to their capital.
A thin line of 4(?) cities extending far away between the cores of two other civs? That's geometrically aweful.
But yeah, let's see what comes next smile

I mean gav is also contemplating a diagonal invasion of a neighbor and hoping his opponents are ai.... IF he wants to keep attacking it probably should be scooter or greenline. If greenline split with sd. If scooter offer pic gets gt.

Mind you even with his low losses I probably would just be expanding right now......

This is kind of an aggressive plant.... Also, I'm not sure he knows that it is an isthmus. IE He is making that supply corridor for Tarkeel REALLY tight.

Also, he does have 1 super filler 1E of the gold. Can share either pig or floodplain farm. /shrug

I would probably split Bing with Pin at knights. Or very possible Tarkeel starts getting run over and you need a quick HA army to vulture.

There's probably a healthy dose of "you should have let me have the barb city" in that plant.  hammer

Yeah, but I think the only tile that gains is the city tile, so very low value until more Worker turns have been invested. I guess there may be utility for sharing cottages at some point, but it might be a blink and you miss it window of utility? noidea

I think there's a spot East of the Dye as well if he wants to push things with Pin.

City ruins! didn't even think about it. Although I suspect you may be right as well.

I like super fillers more than most. But I like futzing with tile micro. It technically gains a grassland to its north as well you can irrigate. But ya its mainly to grow cottages and 4>2 whip forever.

He doesn't know it's an isthmus or even that Tarkeel has settled there.

I do think he could use a scour or two.

So in a way I can understand both Amica and Pins perspectives. That city is closer to Amica. However, while jungle early may be a negative its kind of seen as first there gets. Or way it has always seemed to me. But mind you you still have to be able to hold it......
