Hello guys, I have time to setup the game this evening!
Settings from Mjmd's first post:

Default Settings:
- at least 14 tile min distance between capitals (note this doesn't actual dictate map size)
- Mod Close to Home 5.0
- Monarch
- AI Diplo
- No barbs
- No spies
- No events, huts, unit gifting
- No score mod

Normally, I prefer to start each PB with an own mod. Here, many players also participating in 'RB74' and the development of Close to Home is settled ATM. So I will start this game with the same mod.
Players of RB74 do not need to install a new mod and all others need do install this mod https://civ.zulan.net/pb/volatile/RB74.zip

Pindicators Map file suggesting the Options "No barb cities" and "No water barbs". Should these be enabled?

I'm not sure what happened here.

I tried to join via multiplayer -> direct ip -> server address and got a runtime error message and the game crashed.

Would someone mind walking me through the game joining process?

I'm using the .exe linked to earlier in this thread (Civ4BTS2015) and have unzipped the mod file into the mods directory.

Hi Ricketyclik,

I most often get the runtime error when logging in with a different mod installed. Ramk provided a mod for the pitboss called "PB74" a couple posts back. This mod is identical to CtH 5.0, but the server won't log you in without the Pb74 version. Are you logging in with this version?


(I should say: to actually play with a mod, you'll need to go from the Civ4 start up screen --> Advanced --> Load a mod--> PB74.)
