Other island news?

Tech goals: I wanted Banking pretty badly after experiencing how awesome banks can be in PB63 and 64, but our slider is going to be at 90% after Spiral Minaret, so its off the cards for now. Optics would be necessary for any war with MS and Engineering might be teched just for the road bonus, which feels terrible lol but it is what it is

Stuff we could but won’t:
We have easy access to Nationalism but decided a while ago not to deny Taj to Gav
Gunpowder feels meh without a musket UU or large hilly regions.
Education and Printing Press are not of interest right now, we need to expand our Food yield not collect more multipliers. Although being on the small continent makes Economics with Merchant and Free Market pretty attractive. (Need to collect scientists, hard teching Edu would hurt)

The small continent:
Nothings happening, GKC launched a pretty sleepy GA, we’ll see if he reaches Feud by its end. MS is caught up in tech and food but apparently has no specialists in his empire as I’ve yet to see a GP pop up for him. He also wildly suffers in an MFG comparison
Donovan adopted and spread our religion and lost a really cheeky raze-replant to Metal, who otherwise continues to hit end turn

I seem to have forgotten, do you have a plan for the knights?

Golden Age Report:
While I discussed the impact of the golden age previously, I wanted to use the excuse of titillating yield graphics to discuss some of the Indvidual cities in depth.

Our capital. By the standards of starts around the map, its pretty decent. Clam was traded away early on to the lighthoused and moai-ed Atlantis. Built mostly settlers and colossus for us all game. Dearth of workers and thus tile improvements plus passive colossus GPP meant we usually had an engineer hired fulltime, further stunting its growth. During the golden age we finally finished the GP, regrettably a prophet.

Atlantis, the crowing jewel of our empire. Responsible for nearly 20% of GDP with the monk wonders, and roughly an additional 15% with its own commerce. It was alwasy going to be strong with cow, copper, and 2 clams but Moai and Colossus really sealed the deal. National Epic is just the icing on the cake for how critical this city is to us

Ragnarok was our second city founded, and without non-resource farms, has had perpetual foor surplus of 5 the whole game, and is our second most important city with AP and Shrine, It's commerce and shrine gold account for about 20% of our GDP taken together. Long term we hope to turn it into cottage paradise.

Grey Goo, lumbermills, sheep and dry wheat plus some hills make this dumb ole rock a lump of hammers. Suitably it is equipped with barracks and Heroic Epic

Deluge, so named for its floodplains, is the ill-gotten gains of removing Magic Science's early pinkdot. Planted atop its ruins, it boasts several nice tiles, and for many turns labored away on making our second prophet for the shrine.

Our islands, devoted to making units for their own defense or otherwise just fishing villages raking in that Colossus cash. IND forge bonus is a blessing in more marginal cities like these, drastically reducing payoff time and relieving the mental burden of "yields wasted" by unbuilt forges.

Southern lake. These are some low food jungle settles, which are all profitable thanks to AP. Cheap forges are nice here too

Yummy yummy (ignore the two most important stats of food and power please)

Thanks for the update.

Any chance of empire overviews of your island competitors / state of the island / game?

In we go, 12 Knights, 11 cats, 9WE, and a couple axes to prevent spear cheesing.  popcorn
Our goal is to take the two border cities in a couple turns, then regroup and dive for the capital. We will need more trebs, knights and also longbows of our own to hold captured cities.

Ignore this fuckup, the fleets are a turn late, I moved them, then decided I wanted to land a turn later so moved them back, then decided no wait it was better the first way but now they're out of movement points smoke
We hope that trebs can shine in island sieges. We are getting caravels starting next turn to protect the supply lines.

Donovan is stacking on our border, so far nothing to be worried about, but annoying that he's sided with MS (also opened their borders, which have long been closed. We still have scouts in him with OB of our own, curious how long that lasts

Why Magic Science?

Mostly because he seemed more likely to stab us if we went for GKC, than vice versa. We have that whole maritime contact zone, where we may have an edge with optics for the moment, but long term it's a liability of we want to delay astro.
And GKC has an army of wellies and cats, which isn't really ideal to attack into with knights. What we've seen from MS is rather static defense, which we'll just have to grind down, although admittedly we've had no eyes in the fog...

That's my reasons, Ginger may have better ones smile

Two main reasons,
He has by far the second best tech rate. GKC and DZ don’t compare and will be sporting construction only armies for the next 20 turns minimum
Secondly, we rate GKC as less likely to attack us now (he even returned sacred fish) than MS to attack us if we were to invade GKC

Also proximity of core territories. There’s several filler cities and a large band of jungle between us and GKC while Kati/Sikasso and Deluge/Atlantis are very strong cities

Edit: Ha Mig posted same time lol

Do you plan to grind until death, or do you have more limited goals?
