Scooter declared on Commodore
That I didn't expect
I think there was some tension around the barb city Scooter culture bombed, maybe it's something to do with that? (my scout is past that area now, so I have no eyes)

I hoped to reveal the coastal path between Scooter and myself for trade routes. My borders with Pindicator are closed, and while the diplo from him was encouraging, he's still my closest neighbour right now - don't think I want him to scout me out and see how little I have for defence
That said, it's possible international trade routes lost a lot of their value once I settled the island city - iirc domestic intercontinental trade routes are just as valuable, if not more. Also, I can do sea scouting with the galley, which is free from ferry work for a fair few turns. So assuming it's not a fake war, turning the scout around makes sense

Traderoutes are an argument.
I know the closed borders don’t stop traderoutes to other players, but I think you need to explore the coast ?

Can't say I know the mechanic perfectly, but yes, I think you need to have unfogged sea tiles to get a trade route over water (and of course we don't have roads for international trade routes over land)

You only need to unfog un-owned tiles.

Got Scooter's and Commodore's graphs, and their power is about the same as mine. Hopefully will get eyes on the barb city between them next turn and see what their war is about. The city is no longer showing on the map, but there's no message in the log about it being captured, and no changes to city counts
Funny (and concerning) how I ended up between two players with the highest power
Still trying to figure out what Thoth is doing, why he's stuck on 3 cities, and what he's planning. My scout has been running around his land, he seems to be perfectly ok with it, and I haven't seen that many units. Did see him build a sword, so maybe he's preparing to attack a barb city, same as Pindicator did? Does leave the door open for me to settle that pink dot, and I definitely should have crossbows by then

Welp, from PBSpy it looks like Thoth razed a Scooter's city

Well, it looks like Scooter lost a minor city (inasmuch as losing a city in the first 40 turns of a game could be minor), which probably got vikinged. I struggle to understand the point of this attack to be honest, it wasn't in any way aggressive towards Thoth, and I don't see how he benefits from it, other than the satisfaction of vikinging someone
The barb city between Scooter and Commodore is also razed
Meanwhile, I'm left in peace
Settler for city 6 will be whipped next turn - will go on the northern coast for the iron. Then I will swap back to Serfdom / OR for a bit
Testing the strength of the fish-for-fish with Pindicator, he could capture the worker near Farmer with the horse archer from Wolfpack Tower
Trying to get a random religion spread to Golem, not happening so far, very sad
Galley found a jungled island in the middle of the map
Not sure how realistic settling it is. Pre-Astronomy, one would need multiple galleys to ferry the worker force sufficient to clear the jungle over here. Post-Astronomy, everything will be vulnerable to a naval attack. But good to know it's there - can think about the best way to benefit from it

Well, it looks like I also lost a city to Thoth. Probably Streamer - everything else shouldn't have been in range. Even that had to be less than stellar odds for him, city had an axe and a chariot inside - unless he had two galleys worth of units
His play definitely feels more about interfering with others than about advancing his own game
Losing Christian holy city is annoying, and makes me abandon the attempt to flip the barb city (although I was increasingly unsure it was a good play anyway, with others showing that these cities weren't as hard to take as I thought). But not that big of a deal, the city was freshly whipped and didn't really have any infrastructure
