[pb74 spoilers] Miguelito and Ginger bring about the end of the world

Good Game Magic Science, our first and last Love Island neighbour! (pin will never really count)
Attacking you proved unwise. For the record, it was out of respect, because we were sure if we went south you'd intervene, while we were hopeful that Gav wouldn't (and for a while we were right).
That pinkdot early on - did you think we'd be ok with it? A second skirmisher would have held it, and maybe I would have tried to learn to live with it. Maybe still would have just kept throwing WCs around. Anyways, we were pretty impressed with your recovery. With the island you got us good. And the defense was well played as well. Hope to see you sign up for more games smile

Commodore has lost 3 cities and sends intense diplo. He has just gotten railroad. Among others, he asked for 316 gold straight up. No idea what itmeans, but I accepted since Gavagai can't trace it and it might help him get destroyers earlier.I hope he noticess. Might ask back for it later. He alluded to wanting to hand over his civ to MS, that's bad of course frown .

I rejected corn for silver from Gavagai so that's me doing my part. It is true that Gav doesn't really seem to have a fleet pointing at us, but 1 destroyer is enough really, and they can appear any moment now. Sorry.

It would surely teach him a lesson how to report properly, if YOU post the funny image in YOUR thread smile

sadly I lost track of that fleet for the moment. If I see it cruising you'll be the first to know!

just time for a little mechanics question: If players A and B have a running peace treaty, and we sign a defensive pact with B, does B declare on A when A attacks us?

Tested and confirmed: Yes, a defensive pact triggers an automatic war declaration under those conditions in spite of the ongoing peace treaty.

Isuppose Gav and greenline have reported it, but superdeath has ended his decades long senseless war against Piccadilly to start a senseless invasion of Greenline, and Gav hops in and defends Greenline with MGs and steel navy.

On the diplo front meanwhile I bumblingly have promised alliances to everybody, so the question now is whom to betray? Also we launched a GA and I can't count turns so the revolts are all messed up. The upside is I can have fun imagining the competition trying to make sense of the stratagem.
Also we have no 2nd GP city, that sucks. We're looking at some 30 turns after the GA for the 3rd one IF we stop rolling prophets. I still decided against Pacifism to for the minor boost on Atlantis, because can't have a cost explosion right now, and yeah it would benefit just that one NE city.

uh how did that happen?

Probably all those Malinese Towns.
Participated in: Pitboss 40 (lurked by Mr. Cairo), Pitboss 45 (lurked by Charriu and chumchu), Pitboss 63 (replaced Mr. Cairo), Pitboss 66Pitboss 69, Pitboss 74
Participating in: Pitboss 78 (lurked by GT), Pitboss 79 (lurking giraflorens)

Criticism welcome!

nah, actually it's all culture from building Sistine, but the joke got lost because I'm really not focused and don't find time to report.

Anyway, situation at the beginning of this turn:

Gavagai offers to leave us alone for another while, he now has the most cities, no active wars, is fully industrialized, controls the two strongest corporations and has close to twice our power. We just got up the first round of factories.
So as good a time as any to declare war on him. We don't have a plan, don't know where his fleet is, have negelctible invasion forces BUT we promised mutual war with Gav to both Commodore and pindicator, so maybe, idk how we manage some sort of attrition over the next few dozen turns. Still seems like the best thing to do ifwe don't want to concede.

We've whipped a bunch and our CY is down like 50 points, but mostof it has been factories and stuff shhh . Also looks like we'll need a bunch of grocers? I don't remember doing that in PB59 (the other time I've industrialized), but maybe I just forgot?

PB59 was a smorgasbord of resources, health included, so you might not have needed them then for that reason.
Past Games: PB51  -  PB55  -  PB56  -  PB58 (Tarkeel's game)  - PB59  -  PB60  -  PB64  -  PB66  -  PB68 (Miguelito's game)     Current Games: None (for now...)

But I think we do have all the ressources noidea . Still our coastal (non-river) IW with a harbour, no grocer but no coal plant either, is unhealthy at size 14, and I think our industrialized Inca cities will be at size 10 with only their granaries. Don't know, it feels weird, but of course it's just me because the mechanics haven't even changed in the mod.

Speaking of:

This is what our industrialization mostly looks like so far. Donovan set up these cities as whipping posts so that's what they'll be (although I still like the idea of eventual Caste - State Property if we ever get a third (lol bang ) GA) .
I'm trying something along the lines of the periphery industrializing now (not least because health hits less hard there) while the core keeps up production for the war "effort". Most of these whipped coal plants will set their production straight to infantry (the others, destroyers).

Also seen: I made an attempt to snipe a former greenline sz 16 city that was defended by 2 wounded infantry and a wounded redcoat with elite rifles off a transport. Lost both battles flawlessly, awesome.

Serious combat so far (besides wooden ships which we've mutually sank a bunch of):
Gav DD vs our C2 one at ~30% -> flawless win (for us)
Gav DD against the same, ~30% -> loss
Gav DD against another of ours, ~ 20% -> loss
2 elite rifles against wounded infantry, 43 / 20% -> both losses flawless
so that's looking promising.

This turn we razed not one but two marginal Gavagai cities:

I'm pretty sure he missed that the transport could reach Halifax on the mainland, as he only had an archer in there. Of course it was size 3 and recent conquest so won't affect him, but good to know he may make errors. The other one was greenline's exile capital I believe:

At least an appreciable building haul that went up in flames [Image: V_s.gif]. I did win a yolo 42% there. Next turn, with galleons catching up, we might get another down, although probably not.

The real action is further towards the center:

I'm trying to fork Gav's islands, but it's probably too few transports/galleon, and with his transports having free reign he has a lot of infantry plus a few MGs around, so he might be able to cover everything.
Further south between Osaka and Krabi he has 30 Destroyers, half of which are healing as of this turn with a super medic. We can absolutely not beat that fleet atm, moreso as many are C3 and Gav has airship support while we don't (no interceptions yewt frown ). So, I try to run circles around it? But of course it's not unlikely that in a few turns we'll have him forking our coast.

So on airships, I still shy away from Scientific Method because of the monasteries, teching with Apo beakers while hoarding gold. Might be an error, sure, as we delay stuff like airships, possibly even marines? That sounds wrong... But monasteries of course are pretty vital for us as well. Also still thinking about going communist if we do get a GA.

I'm trying to ask for some help:

Hopefully getting the point across. I have seen two ~5 destroyer stacks of pindi's coming in in the southwest, Maybe they can help out some. Of course pindi is the true winner of this war - next to no peril, he can't even whip so he doesn't, probably just industrializing while sending over some spare hammers in the form of destroyers. Still appreciated of course. Now if (if!) things go well for us the interesting question will be when to expect his backstab on our mainland...
