[PB79] Giraflorens & Magic Science -- "Fear+Curiosity Gazpacho"

Residente & Silvia Perez Cruz.  Nice melody and beautiful lyrics.
They keep saying:  "No quiero que se acabe (I don't want it to end)" .  A good motto for this match.

"Gazpacho" is an Andalusian summer cold soup. Sort of a salad in the mixer, with a spicy tic of garlic.

Final civs piked:
Coldrain: Lincoln (PHI/CHA) of Native Americans
Giraflorens: PACAL(EXP/FIN) of Dutch (Netherlands)
xist10: Wang Kong (PRO/FIN) of Carthage
Miro: Lieu-Ye (ORG/PRO) of China
ricketyclik: Shaka (EXP/AGG) of Rome

"gazpacho" is the password for our Civ to enter the game

Your start:

Tiles within the fat cross of where the settler is won't change. I do not recommend simming based on tiles outside of the fat cross, as these may change during final map revisions.

We started the sneak peak. COLDRAIN already chooses Lincoln (PHI/CHA). It is our turn to select.

Seeing the initial position I see:
- only one Fish so no need to rush for boats, but we have 7 water tiles with a lot of coins so Sailing must be a near station.
- not good Farm tiles, only the Rice.
- lots of forests and irrigated tiles, so it is good for Villages and chopping. Pottery and BW.
- there are two Animal tiles (one is not secure in the final map), so AH also must be a fairly near station.

I've checked the provettes for the initial techs and I have never though about the difference of the cost, being The Wheel and Mysticism the most expensive ones. So choosing Wheel at the beginning could be a good option (for the cost and the effectiveness for the worker). I usually do not choose early religions. So I am thinking about Mining as a initial tech. And the combination of Mining and Wheel give us: Mali empire!!!

About the traits I don't know. All of them have advantages. If I don't have initial Religion I should forget about SP. CHA is interesting for the monuments if I don't go also for Stonehenge. And it can combine well with EXpansive for granaries. CHA + EXP is Washington.

That could be a good election with the Malinese empire.
.....................................................

Summary:
I will select the Malinese Empire in the first SnakePeak and Washington in the second round (if it still available).

I will wait 5 hours for you to make any comment before I upload my election.

Worker done EOT10,
Need Agriculture EOT10
Farm done T14
Need Animal Husbandry EOT14.
Work Boat will be done with no rush about EOT20. Only other thing to build while growing is a Warrior, and I think there is time for one after the boat. So need Fishing about then, I think.
Of course need Mining and BW as soon as possible afterwards.
I think you want two of Agriculture/Fishing/Mining, not Th Wheel.
But I am not sure and the choice is yours.
I have lunch in 2 hours to say more then.
Don’t worry too much about delaying the pick for a little while. The other guys need to think too.

This starts needs 3 food technologies: Agriculture, Fishing, and Animal Husbandry. The map size will be Standard, so more expensive technology costs. The Wheel is more expensive, but I don't think it is a good starting technology. You need food technology, then technology for Slavery and chopping.

Not a good idea to pick Hunting or Mysticism either.

You could put a Farm on the Cow, not a Pasture. The Cow would be worse, but then you would not need Animal Husbandry so soon.

If you want Animal Husbandry in time to put a Pasture on the Cow, then you must start with Agriculture. The Worker will be done so soon and the technologies are expensive on Standard.

I recommend China (Agri/Mining) or Dutch (Agri/Fishing) or America (Agri/Fishing) for civilizations. All three have good Unique Things.

For traits:

EXP is always good. smile.

CHA. There are no luxury resources in sight. But this is a green's game, so the mapmakers will probably give everyone a few luxuries. What was it like in Pitboss 72? That would make CHA weaker. But if there really are not many luxuries, then CHA would be strong. I do not know. It is a fine option.

SPI. Good to not pick it if you do not want early religion.

Others? You could always choose good old FIN. If you are convinced to pick a civ other than Mali, then you could pick a trait that is good with that civ.

Lunch is over. frown.

giraflorens, I have not done any simulations for my ideas yet, so I am not certain about them.

And I look forward to being your dedlurker for this game.

Good luck to us!

Thx a lot for your suggestions.

I can not use mining until I have BW. There are no unforest hills. That's why I was thinking about The Wheel. With it the worker always can do some roads.

I agree about fishing. It is good for food and for the coins.

I don't see the Farm on the Cow (3F0H1C -> 4F0H1C) and with the pasture (-> 4F2H1C) . Am I right? in this latter I gain 2H

I did some calculations and with AGri+Fish, the procedure could be AH-Wheel-Mining-BW and the Settler is in 33 turns, with 1 warrior and 1 boat and 4 of population ready for whiping in turn 37.

I think I m going for the Ducht Empire and tomorrow we can talk about traits.

Good night here in West Europe
