Jeez, I just reread the last game I played.

I have played England before, but Victoria (Steam Age) could be fun.

Germany for Hansas?

Let´s give me 1-2 hours.

Ok, in no particular order:

Ambiorix

Gorgo

Jayavarman

Lautaro

Menelik

Montezuma

Tokugawa

Victoria (Steam)

Yongle

Maybe this is the last CIV VI PBEM. Although given that RB dislikes new CIVs, we do not need to be afraid of CIV VII replacing anything here.

Regardless, maybe Greece. Yongle seems very strong but he comes in late.
Ambiorix is stronger then he looks thanks to culture bombs, those are always strong in MPs.
Tokugawa is also nicer then he looks.
I would love Victoria (Steam) but there won´t be any madness like 2-3 horses all at once like in random map.

Ok, to cut it down.

Jayavarman or Gorgo.

I pick Jayavarman.

Gorgo as a 2nd pick.

Turn 1

Woha.

My first instinct is that this must be a joke. crazyeye

Anyway. Let´s make my turn not easy.

We are Khmer so we need a holy site district. I would love river goddess but we could repair this by going tundra pantheon.

Having the stone tile in the first ring may be crucial.

Goddess of the Hunt would be a valid choice for anyone else.

So.

Let´s see what we can see.

Well, the coast will not save us, but there is a second 2f/2p tile down south. And we could potentially settle on the river hill on turn 3 thereby avoiding flood plains and having 2 2f/2p tiles in the 2nd ring and having a better city in the long run. My instinct I have to move.

Oh come on. The honey is calling to us a bit.

Yep, this is 5 era score. It seems edits must be quite minimal. I am used to that, playing CIV VI regularly in the evenings with 2 friends of mine the last 3 years.

SW on the desert hill I got 3f, 2f2p, 2f2p in the second ring.

E I see 4f, 2f2g. I do not see any production. So I decide to move SW. In the worst case I can loose another turn and move back.

Ah well, this I can work with. I am reliefed a bit. My first impression was that I am screwed turn 1.

Things will be difficult enough with Yongle and Tokuwaga. More on that in the next post.

Turn 2

Well, I get not much more information this turn. Except that my warrior is oddly out of place and will need 2-3 turns to start earnest exploration.

Turn 3

The usual question. Warrior, Scout, Slinger, Builder or even Monument.

Worker is out as I do not need 4f tiles when I got the spices to grow into.

I want to go Astrology ASAP, and I have to assume 20 turns.

Doing the maths, we either can do monument->warrior->settler->holy site
Or monument->warrior->holy site->settler.

I doubt I will get lucky and get the eureka for astrology and I can not wait on it.

The other variant is going warrior->settler and with a 3 turn delay holy site. Which could make a for a quick holy site on my second city.

The possibility for a monument first is there as I have sea to the west and tundra to the north.

I decide for warrior->settler. There is a decent city site east along the river next to honey which is a 4f tile which could grow rapidly.

Turn 4

Well, quick morning turn.

There is a 2nd river down south which means I have at least 3 river cities, which is nice.

Turn 5

Rather nice looking spot south.
