I'm getting close to conceding to Gavagai

Edit: Let me put that a better way. If the other members of the coalition want to concede then we will. I want to fight on, but I don't think we have a chance if Miguelito & Commodore aren't motivated to.

What are you up to? If we are allowed to know. I think a lot of people are curious in regards to late game reporting.

I have been up to this tongue

Still need to curate those photos and get them out to the other backpackers...

Anyway, I get what you mean. We just played 247 and talked through what the goals are, now that I'm back and mostly recovered. Will post later.

Gavagai is pushing us back on all fronts. Our production is starting to come up to capacity as our factories and coal plants are increasingly finished, but Gavagai still holds a technological advantage and I worry for the morale of the other players.

As for Gavagai, it appears his strategy is to knock Miguelito out of the game, and then Commodore and I will have no choice but to capitulate.

A new push happened in the south, with Gavagai taking Supernova - avenging the loss of Bellyfeel earlier.

Initially I was worried Gavagai was going to go after our cities of South Georgia and McMurdo Station in the area - and had nixed plans to reinforce as those would have just been too slow. But now I have put that plan back into motion, and 2 slow galleons are carrying reinforcements for McMurdo. In addition, our next wave of Destroyers is headed to the area.

In the north, Miguelito is slowly being pushed back to superior production and our long supply lines. Gao has fallen and I fear Kumba Saleh will be shortly after. Last turn I tried to signal to Mig that we need to counter attack at Gao now, but whether he did not have the forces or will, the city was unassailable by our dozen units this turn.

With that unfortunate note we made two changes. First, our transports will try to hit Gavagai's center. Right now he is extending north and south to attack Miguelito, but I have not seen much in his center. If we can force him to redirect units elsewhere perhaps we can give Mig some time.

Second, our cities on the eastern continent have switched over to land unit production. We will be working to reinforce Miguelito's mainland and let him free up units for the islands. Eventually I hope to get more of a navy presence so we can transport those units - but for now this is what we can do.

Back home we founded Sid's Sushi with the advent of Refrigeration. First place it was spread was to the Cathedrals, and it and the capital will pump out executives. We need to find one more city in the north to spread the good word of corporate profits. In addition, I need to get a stronger garrison in Goat Rocks. Our hope is the extra food will help get more production - I'm already working to change that grassland farm at Goat Rocks into a watermill.

And with more seafood in mind, our 45th city was founded:

Industrialism finished end of this turn, and the tank & battleship production is about to begin. Commodore and Miguelito are going for Flight, but we are going to go Fission. Gavagai finished that tech, and if he plans to try to knock us out with nukes then we need to have at least one of us acting as a deterrant. Fission then Radio (subs) are the plan.

Also, we need to turn this guy in:

No way we're getting to a 4th golden age this game.

Mig signaled he wanted us to help out towards Gao:

Sending out the airships, I can see that he's pushing northward at the perfect time.

If Mig is doing this to help our mission in the middle, he couldn't have picked a better time and location to make his move.  Notice how he's drawn Gavagai's navy northward.  Even a few tiles, it's very important. We moved our 20 destros in the area to join Mig's navy.

Meanwhile, in the south Mig lost Asteroid to Gav.  Gav just barely had enough here to win the island, and we desperately need transports before we can get together a force to try to retake it.

Our 9 destroyers can patrol the seas, but we can't do much but watch Gav heal up in port.

What about our reinforcements for McMurdo?  They aren't much, but we're going to try to push on for Air Baron, in what I am calling "Operation Slushie":

Aside from the 3 infantry and 3 MGs, we have 4 more infantry in a transport that will catch up by the time we can land on Baron.

Finally, the important one, is Operation Jelly Donut:

We could have moved northward a bit more and threatened Duckspeak righit away - but I didn't think that was much of a play.  We likely are being spotted this turn, and so I think it's better to move where we can threaten more at once.  (However, I think there's a slight chance that we've attracted Gav's sight northward - and that his airship out of Bangkok possibly looks southwest instead of west .... Anyway, I can dream.) Next turn the transports either move to A or B. B is in Gav's sight range but can fork 4 cities. A is just outside the sight range and can only fork 3 cities.

Gavagai spotted us and moved south. Mig then decided to retreat his forces.

Put two options for my ded-lurkers and myself to mull over:

1) Unload our infantry on the hill NE of Bangkok. No guarantee that Gavagai doesn't have anything in range to cover, but it's possible. The 4 workers by Penang suggest he is covering this though.
1A) Leave 2 infantry on 2 separate transports to keep the option of boating Krabi and Osaka

2) Head south and try to outrun his forces, aiming to burn an island city

Will finish up when we make our mind up

Jelly Donut is aborted.

Was about to make a go for it, but the lead destroyer caught sight of another group off the coast of Bangkok. We likely would have lost all our ships if we advanced, and so we decided to pull back.

At least we bought Mig a little bit of time. But more boats are streaming forward, and the first battleships and tanks are off the lines.

Gav is 4 turns from ICBMs (plus Manhattan Project build time, but does anybody really think production is a limiting factor for him at this point?).

We might be close to a concession, if Gav just nukes everything in 10 turns

These are all Plemo galleons.

Oh no, not suspicious at all. I really was tempted to just declare and sink all 4 of them now. But I covered cities they were nearby and just let it be, because I don't want to give up entirely (unless of course Mig & Comm have both conceded).

If Plemo attacks, I'm giving up on Gav and wiping Plemo off the map - and not conceding until that is done.

Hey, congrats with a well-played game and a smartly fought war! I was impressed by how much value you were able to generate with so few resources committed. You correctly determined that my main push was against Mig and without your ships, he would have fallen apart very early in the war. If Maya and Egypt were piloted by your clones, I am sure I would get completely smoked.
From what I read here (I only read the Great War related stuff) you never explicitly conceded in your thread, only indicated you were close to it. I don't think you had any reason to concede; in fact, I think if Mig and Com resolved to stay in the war no matter what happens to them, you were on track to win the game. Of course, it made little sense for them to stay at war by the current point but it was their choice to make. So, even though I am very happy and relieved the game ended, I don't think it was right to pressure you into a concession.
