I'm concerned about a lack of resources; the script can leave these forests bereft at times. There's an argument to be made for making Lumbermilltopia out of that super-river, but I think instead I'm going to be Mr. FDR and just try to chop every single wonder in the game.
You know, I did not consider this. Let's go to the tape.
Unless there are some down in the tundra that I can't see, there is a grand total of one luxury within 9 tiles of his capital, and it's a Calendar happy. There's literally nothing else until you get to the gold/wine far northwest of his start or the other wine far to the east. I guess the Whale too. The one saving grace is Monarchy is easily accessible on Classical, and Inca means he can build Quechuas forever. But it will be extremely annoying. Also yes, Mirkwood has an entire 7x7 box of 0 resources right in the middle.

yeah... but... well... if that's the downside, I'll take it
south of the marble there is something in the tundra that could be gold (and deer further south?)

Silver, actually - 8 tiles from his second city, 12 from his capital. Plus there's another silver (and marble) that's closer (8 tiles from the capital, but 10 over land) and further south (off the screenshot) with a second-ring fish to feed it. So very much in his area of influence, but still technically not within a nine-tile walk of Poker!
[EDIT: Whales would count though if he could feed them. I believe they're at Sailing in RtR.]

I didn't know what to answer.
Didn't want to lie directly into their face.
"Yeah right, it sucks, but maybe those others also have shitty starting areas... "

You don't answer, klops. Seriously, do not answer. Yuris isn't wanting or expecting a lurker to engage with that.
Or if you do, just say something that responds to the screenshots he has provided. E.g. "Wow, that does look like a lot of desert."

yes, I know, that's why I didn't write anything.
Sometimes, I try to find some neutral or funny comment just to let them know someone is reading, but not in this case.

Poor yuris.. All that work dotmapping, and has managed to not find Commodore's borders.

BTW not sure lurkers should be making suggestions about dot mapping in Commodores thread. Although that peninsula is a toss up, so its possible it won't matter. The entrance is actually about equal distance from Commodores and Pins capitals. However, it would create some awkward close naval borders if Commodore took.
One thing that will be interesting especially on the 3 player continent is that no one knows how much safe land everyone else has. Its not uncommon in this script for people to get huge safe islands to expand to sometimes even in chains. Again, land disparity was a known issue going into this and I don't know how much people are factoring that into their aggressive land grabs towards opponents. But either way Commodore and especially Yuris being aggressive makes sense because neither has said safe backline expansion.
