At least they seem to be partially dialing back 1 UPT system if my understanding of commander is correct? Still would vastly prefer it to be completely gone though.
Civilization 7 is in development

EDIT:
I watched 2 videos of Testers and right now I like what I see. I think restricting the switch to 2 times is a good choice and they want to go into a fresh direction. I never, never got the vitriol that CIV V and CIV VI got here in the RB community. Both had issues, but were good (Civ V) or great iterations (CIV VI). I for one am happy that they experiment. And will probably buy and play it day 1. (August 20th, 2024, 23:07)TheArchduke Wrote: I never, never got the vitriol that CIV V and CIV VI got here in the RB community. The forum was practically dead prior to PBEM1 and then PB1 reviving interest. The recent two Civ games sort of treated MP as an afterthought, and I think that held it back here quite a bit. If you look around, the majority of posts these days are from folks that came here after PBEM1, which itself was a full 4 years after Civ4 released and 2 years after BtS.
I'll probably play it day one, as well. I'm willing to give it a shot. Old World and Humankind never really clicked with me, but VI is my favorite entry in the series.

I'm following but probably won't get it day 1 whatever happens. I regretted getting both Civ5 and Civ6 day 1. I did eventually enjoyr Civ5 after all expansions were out; with Civ6 I ran out of interest after about 100 hours, and didn't like what I thought was an overabundance of DLCs. Unless Civ7 picks up on RB and we have adventures and an actual MP scene, I'm happy to wait until it's been out for a few years and had its updates and expansions
At least the graphics make clear where all the money was spent. Do we think they hired more than one guy to work on the AI this time?

Winning single player emperor and deity games in Civ IV, especially before BtS nerfed deity, was a real challenge, doubly so with whatever handicaps and variants were thrown in for an adventure. People soured on single player events for Civ V real quick once the optimal ICS strategy was figured out.
Civ 5 was a bit tough to win due to the "level 2" difficulty glitch. It got killed off because it launched unfinished due to Trip (At the Gates!).
I agree with you with Civ 6 being too easy. (August 21st, 2024, 11:36)greenline Wrote: It should also be said that the braindead AI for Civ V and VI killed any attempt to revive single player events. AI's poor performance no longer mattered, it was about building your own empire as well as you could. But let's be honest, even with more competent AI in Civ4, once you know how to play the game, AI is barely a factor, and actually getting to a win condition is one of the more boring parts That said, that all happened after two expansions, and interest in RB adventures waned long before expansions sorted most of Civ5's release issues
It seems Civ VII will not have hotseat multiplayer. That might be a deathblow to any chance of it taking off 'round these parts.
