I love how Chechnya, inside Russia's borders, counts as "expansionism" meanwhile you support US occupation of China's territory in Taiwan Province, the other side of the Pacific Ocean, which for some reason isn't dangerous, Hitlerian expansionism.

And Taiwan is its own separate country in all but name at this point.

As for the Baltic states, the reason they should be wiped off the map is because they have chosen to side with an aggressive, terroristic foreign alliance which blows up Baltic infrastucture. Those states also discriminate against their Belarusian and Russian citizens.

Morality requires that Russia should take a hard line instead of appeasing their Hitlerian aggression and racism.

I hope for Trump's win but this is mostly because I am sort of a single-issue voter. Nothing but the Ukranian war matters that much to me. Biden administration's strategy is clearly to prolong the war for as long as possible, denying both sides a decisive victory and facilitating mutual Russian-Ukrainian genocide. Being a Russian, I'd never accept this and I can't imagine a worse approach to this conflict. With Trump, there is at least some hope it would change, though not particularly high of a hope: US foreign policy is remarkably consistent across different administrations, despite superficial differences in rhetoric.
Ukrainian case aside, I don't see that much of a difference between candidates. It is remarkable how so-called "political polarisation" is mostly about bullshit non-issues like abortions, trans bathrooms, and race while on serious stuff, like economics, both parties pretty much converged. The Red want a bit less taxes, the Blue want a bit more entitlements, both disregard the growing budget deficit. Trump even gave up his idea to replace Obamacare. I'd still be more in Trump's camp because I like him as a person a bit more, at least, he does not pretend to be someone he is not. Also, most of my social circle are Harris voters, their rhetoric pisses me off and I would be glad to see them put down. If I interacted with Trump voters more, I'd probably be more partial to Kamala's cause, though IDK. From little I saw, Trump supporters are honest lunatics, proudly wearing their tinfoil hats in public, Alex Jones style. I can at least respect the integrity of it. Democratic party, on the other hand, is such a cocktail of hypocrisy, arrogance, and utter lack of honor that I simply find it too hard to swallow.

Kind of agree. This thread was almost closed years ago because people were arguing strongly on it, but now some people openly say they champion the destruction of entire populations and not only are they not banned but this thread is left here to rot. There's only like one person consistently trying to make calm arguments in good faith without insulting either another user or an entire country, and I'm not sure that's healthy for him (kudos Mjmd though).

A lot of people calling for peace and saneness now would look very hypocritical if you dug up some of their posts from 2020. One of the worst posts I read here coming from the hyper left was saying how people should have no right to do anything against hypothetical home invaders, and should grovel at their feet and give them all of their possessions. In light of that, it seems strange that T-Hawk of all people would get labeled as a psychopath. Just for thinking an election was stolen?

But you think it's okay to commit genocide. It's even more offensive to not hold the murderers accountable, writing it off as 'the dead will stay dead.' It's vomit-inducing to hear that propping up ukraine to fight our proxy war is considered a MORAL obligation while committing genocide.

I'm still here, just haven't felt like engaging, since most of the discussion has been Ukraine and I really don't have much opinion either way on that. Yeah it would be nice to not have Russia conquering countries, but it's not our problem or obligation to keep spending endless amounts of American treasure against it, but then again the arguments about standing up now before they get bigger against the next target do hold water.

On closing the thread - that happened mostly because of heated personal attacks, which was mostly coming from Bobchillingworth who has since quit, and because BRickAstley did it as the moderator but he hasn't been around lately. I've been watching as a moderator and haven't seen anything that warrants stepping in. Mostly it's been playful teasing trash talk that's been laughed off by the recipients, or at least that's how it comes across to me.

Charr I've argued with Ad Nauseum, so I haven't been responding to recently. He is just a hypocritical troll though and to his credit that is in his signature. I do expect you next civ4 greens game though.

I do find Bings comments to be well over the line, but I assume most people can see that and so rarely respond to him.
