American Politics Discussion Thread

I have not done a 23 and me, so I cannot confidently say what the best kind of slur to use for me is.

Canada is always cited for its immigration system, though those citing it usually don't realize that that's because it's heavily merit based, with a scoring system based on education and skills and work experience.

The US doesn't have merit-based immigration because the left doesn't want to think that different people have different merit.  The closest we get is to kinda fake it with H1-B and O-1 employment visas.

Skill and merit based immigration brings a different set of problems. Highly skilled immigrants take jobs away from highly skilled Americans and bring their own nasty politics. I mentioned Zionism and German revolutionaries in my post - those were brought over by immigrants who would pass a merit based system. The current flood of H1B Indians is likely to bring entirely new terrible politics to America. If you think it's absurd how the government has to bend over backwards to please Israel, wait until you see what the next generation will do regarding the India Pakistan conflict!

Merit based immigrants also drive up real estate prices and price out services. Canada, the alleged golden standard for merit based immigration, has cities that few locals can ever afford to rent in, full of apartments sitting idle. It has absurd wait times for it's socialized healthcare. It even has spikes in crime. Canadians are not happy about it and also want a stop to immigration.

Like to me its an obvious throw away so that whomever he actually wants looks good by comparison. Senate Republicans get to look good and reject one of Trumps picks. But part of me thinks he is serious. My bet is on smart (or at least someone around him came up with and he was smart enough to listen), but I can't shake that it might be serious.

The role of Gaetz in the administration is probably just to pardon whoever Trump wants pardoned and little else. Musk, Tulsi Gabbard, RFK Jr, and Vance will be the serious players for policy, assuming they stick around.

I mean as long as your aware people were calling your ancestors a slur and politicians were encouraging it for votes that is a good step.

The comparison with Canada or Australia are not good ones. Both of those countries don't have a ton "livable land" (ie Canada really cold and Australia is really dry so both are forced onto strips of good land). The US does not have those problems. I've said it before to me the argument SHOULD BE more about how we admit, distribute, and support. I think there is some fair criticisms from border states that they bare too much of the burden. But that would require actually doing something to help fix the mess and then you couldn't run on it.

But anyone he picks is going to be a "yes" man and will pardon who he wants, so why Gaetz? I suspect most people regardless of merit will get past the senate Rs, but Gaetz by challenging McCarthy made enemies among Repbulicans. Still he must feel confident if he is already resigning his seat.

It could be in, say, Japan. If domestic product can't meet job demand in any sector, even lawn care or hospitality, then immigration of people willing & capable of filing those jobs is a good thing for the economy.

It's serious shakehead.

I breathed a sigh of relief with Rubio...that was a qualified pick. Then the Gaetz news broke. The only reason Biden is being nice to Trump right now is because he's worried Hunter is about to be water boarded.

Plus the Sikh/Khalistan thing, as seen with Canada and Trudeau lately. Annoyingly, it seems like the Indian patriots love Israel's beef with Islam, so they don't even dilute the Zionist infiltrators, but work with them almost as eagerly as the Christian heretics who believe Jews are still the chosen people.

He should be loyal to his ancestors? What a novel concept.

Interesting contrast between Trump and Kamala in their anti-Chinese positions. It seems that Trump's fair open competition and reindustrialisation is neither feared nor hated by the Chinese, but they do have a problem with the financial and cultural manipulations of the Democrats.

Fortunately, the pro-American traitors are being purged, as also occurred in Viet Nam recently.
