Come on, Trump is just like Jesus.  I'm sure after a hard days preaching against greed and selfishness, and reminding people to love their neighbor, our Lord and Savior would kick it with the apostles and brag about being able to grab any woman he wanted in the pussy.  I'm also sure he had Peter pay off Mary Magdalene so she wouldn't go blabbing her mouth and ruin the good thing he had going.  Yup, practically the same person.

But anyone he picks is going to be a "yes" man and will pardon who he wants, so why Gaetz? I suspect most people regardless of merit will get past the senate Rs, but Gaetz by challenging McCarthy made enemies among Repbulicans. Still he must feel confident if he is already resigning his seat.

Trump's last term saw him trying to put in a lot of Republican cabinet members to do the job of a yes man, followed by those appointments ignoring him and continuing to do the usual Bush/Reagan party line stuff. Picking a yes man is a harder job than it appears to be at first glance. Trump is not like Jesus. He is a little bit like Henry VIII. Incredibly ostentatious, unsubtle, crude, vain, and popular. The kind of man who would own a golden toilet seat. In that respect, not so different from many historical popes. The Protestants who were enabled by Henry VIII breaking with the Catholic church were happy with his decision making even if Henry himself was not a pious man. The Christians of today have been pleased that Trump let the matter of abortion fall to the states. Now they will have to grapple with the fact that most states are going to do away with abortion restrictions on their own. That isn't Trump's battle to fight.

If there is a demon that Trump worships, it is obviously Mammon. Trump loves money and fame and success. Moloch is not his style. Moloch is the domain of machine politicians who only believe in power for power's sake. Biden and Harris fit that description better. Biden wanted to run for president because he thought no one was better fit to be president than himself. Harris spent her career as a politician schmoozing, rather than ever crafting some kind of message for an electorate.
