Can i fort across that line?

I can here, but dont know if its because its a body of water/not a city.. Basically im in the process of setting up for late game galleon funzies. I have strategic points mapped out throughout my empire for a cat/whatever stack to be placed to hit 1-2 attack vectors. Plans to settle a city marked in the lower right>>^^ of that image. Allowing me to potentially snipe DZ's "real" capital city, and flank another 3-4 cities both by direct boating and dropping off units. Now, what sucks for me is that DZ... 1. Is a better player than i am. 2. Spends FAR more time in-game than i do. 3. Is playing as booty-ca past the point where her traits are hurting her. I fully expect commandos at some point, and im i think... 2-3 GG's away from my own. If i can get the Fascism one, and land the pentagon (i think i can do both if i dont get involved in a war before hand) i should be able to have it in my HE city, where ive been pumping every GG i get. I need to get 1 unit to 17xp to grab West Point, then i think im pretty much set. I really need DZ to capture Gavagai's last city. Its HURTING me via its massive culture, and im sure DZ knows this. His Gavagai gains have been growing and producing more for his econ/everything meanwhile i have to STUFF units in mine trying to avoid revolts. I STG i bet i get that 2nd (?) revolt and a city swaps to being Gavagai's. Unless that cant happen to a war-capture?

Overall, i have plans for the future.. but they heavily rely on winning this upcoming Magic capital fight, Dreylin remembering the Alamo, and DZ not getting a quick snipe on a bunch of cities. Stay tuned!

You're talking about forts on the "put turns into fort" and "future fort" tiles, and a city on the white dot? I'm pretty sure that yes, that works to allow ships to move through all the visible water tiles there.

You cannot between Hello Fresh and KFC. You can Between cinimon roll and wherever you are going on that side as long as you use the forested lake or farther south (unsure as that part isn't given).

Fort / city canals are a max of two tiles. The 2nd one works even though its 3 because the lake refreshes the length allowed.

Hows it feel being score leader!

Basically, yeah. The actual rule is: Boats can only enter water tiles and cities or forts-you-control that are adjacent (including diagonals) to water tiles. So your boats can enter either of the cities MJMD mentioned, but if you build forts on either or both the "fort?" tiles S or W of the central peak tile, even if you gain cultural control of the western one, they won't help your boats. (Nor could they enter cities on either of the "fort?" tiles via forts on the city tiles if the cities were razed; it's the same rule.) Similarly, you could build a fort in various places (e.g. 1SE of the "cat/mini stack" Rice) to get from the eastern sea to the one-tile lake (or even on the cottage 1SE of the central peak to go from the nearby city to the fort to the lake) and could then build a fort on the random grass mine 1NW of the lake and enter that with your boats - but the boats still couldn't enter Street Tacos nor travel any further West.

There would be a way to canal between those two seas in that image if you controlled all the territory, but two of the required fort tiles are currently in rival culture right now, and (unless this changed in CtH) boats can't pass through forts culturally controlled by another civ even with Open Borders.

RefSteel is correct. You can't canal from Hello Fresh to KFC on the path you indicated - the tile 1NW of KFC isn't adjacent to water. You can with this path: 3S of Hello Fresh, 1NE of Golden Sphere, 1SW of KFC. All of those are adjacent to any water which is what matters. Although the first two aren't in your cultural control and would need to be.

And to answer your question on city revolts ... captured cities can't flip back to the player that you captured them from, but they can revolt over and over again making the city unproductive and dropping the city defenses.

All good info. Thanks!

Long time no post, my... general attitude lately has me not enthusiastic about playing this game. So, probably not putting in as much effort as i should. Still, i do have plans. They involve not being dog piled (which would hand the game to DZ) but i can understand Dreylin not wanting to join me vs DZ for the same reason. SO, the general idea is to take my land edge(roughly equal to DZ) and far better teching than him to start scaling and passing Dreylin who being at peace/not in the combat zone, has been able to hit up PP and i believe RP. Im loathe to tech paper anytime super soon as i JUST got TGLH.. but ill probably have to shortly in order to stay relevant. To give you an idea, i gained at least 200gpt or so from capturing that city. Im glad Dreylin didnt raze it, which im going to take as at least some sign of either future cooperation or at least, a lesser chance at a backstab.

All the pictures i got for ya for now. Im prepping defenses and various ways i can alpha strike. Right now, my biggest question (and one i doubt the lurkers are allowed to answer) is what city i put the Globe Theater in, if any.
