Since Dark Elves are their cousins, shouldn't they have Illusion Immunity as well? I'd prefer keeping them quite distinctive. I was strongly tempted to give them Magic Immunity, but there's no way around that simply being too strong. Maybe Resist Elements on all Dark Elf units.

That is, I kind of like the idea of diversifying the races a bit more than they already are.
I don't think it'd make sense theme-wise, and I already gave Merging to the Stag Beetle. I'm not opposed to giving Lizardmen a little something, can't think of anything that's a good match. And with high HP + low cost + swimming they'll be very interesting on water maps.

You're making a race essentially immune to one branch of magic. Blur, Mind Storm, Vertigo, possibly Confusion. It also helps against Night Stalkers, Nightblades, Air Elementals, Wall of Darkness. It removes a lot of options instead of adding them. Welcome back troll, I missed you

Nice, personal attacks instead of argumentation. You reinforce my impression you have poor judgement and are not worth talking to.
Huh, I can't add a moderator to ignore list.

I'm afraid I have to admit, while he said it in an extremely offensive way, b0rsuk does have a point here. Illusion immunity cuts out a huge swath of blue's go-to spells. It'd be like giving Fire Immunity to an entire race. Sure, chaos can work around it, but they just lost the use of a ton of their mojo. I'm less concerned about things like Poison or Cold immunity as those have a much smaller role than illusion or fire.
Perhaps just a flat resistance boost to show elves are savvier at handling hostile magic?

I really don't think it's all that imbalanced for high elves to have illusion immunity. Granted, you might get a lucky fast start if you start next to several sorcery nodes. Or you might go for a sorcery magic build, and be unlucky enough to start right next to a High Elf AI. But those situations are pretty rare, not at all a guaranteed win/loss, and less of an imbalance than a lot of other things in this game. It's not like you can kill phantom beasts with swordsmen, even if you do have illusion immunity.

Perhaps just a flat resistance boost to show elves are savvier at handling hostile magic? Note that I did give nomads Fire Immunity as well, and Death Immunity to trolls. Maybe it's just me, but I rather like having some counters that discourage a focused approach. Like when I get a little too confident with my ranged units and run into a sorcery mage who's put guardian wind on an entire stack! Speaking of which, that's a pretty awesome sorcery counter to high elves. As for sorcery nodes, longbowmen are still a better option for taking out phantom units. They have tiny defenses and are easy to take down, no reason to melee them even if they don't cancel your armour.
We can take it out later if it proves to be uninteresting to play with, I'd like to playtest it.

I believe a resistance boost won't do the trick.
Ranged magical attacks and spells work against the shields, not the resistance.
[OSG p.304: Units defend themselves from such attacks (Magic ranged) in the normal way, using shields.]
And I already know that fireballs, lightning bolts etcetera can pierce right through a resistance of 15. However, it is still not clear to me whether shields work or anything else except Immunity. Does anyone know?

Well, I'm never ever going to implement that one for you. Perhaps you should ask Kyrub? :neenernee
Edit: Actually that might be fun, but only if you make the Dark Elves so ridiculously weak, you need to boost them completely with spells to make them playable.
And then it would work only once or twice. Sigh.
Edit: Oh, and I believe Magic Immunity should be stripped from Paladins (KM Dale did). Only Torin may keep it - for the times someone wants to play with a "real" Demi-God (sometimes I do). :P
