The only thing i realized was a permament card from the start of the game is always good news :P But i debated taking it because it was a bit further away from the start, but in the end i decided "whatever" and took it.

I know I'm holding up both games. I'll try to play them, along with RB1 at CFC, tonight. First though I need to find an online rules doc.
There's a link on yucata if you click the menu of games to the left.

we should do this in real-time, this St Petersburg game is going to take forever with the pass system!

Well it seems like Amelia won? In egezia that is.
It was fun, though the first two rounds or so I didn't really know what I was doing, so I obviously lost a lot of potential points there. Tbh I have no idea how I got the points I did lol

Ouch. Sadly, I still have no idea how to actually play the game. If asked to explain it I could tell people how ships are placed and how monuments are built, but the food, stone, and worker systems are totally opaque to me.

Heh, the food killed me. The permanent move 1 worker per turn was only used once, because i had not enough food (although i had enough compared to the rest of you i guess). Everyone taking the Sphinx in the end was suprising, i had to move quick to grab the other two. Other then that, i think i've learned enough about this game to play another round.
(Also, i realized stone wasn't important... you simply have too much of it to use i think?)
P.S: Good game guys, hopefully this will displace my shame at Stone Age :neenernee

Eeeek, in St Petersburg I think I've missed out on using the pub . That's 15 points I won't see again.

Ideally you don't have too much to use. I know I was suffering for stone because I didn't pick up enough quarries.

You can only buy 5 points per round, so for 15 points you would have had to spend 10 rubels per round for the last three rounds. It's rarely useful to do this outside of the last round, as normally you can do something better with 10 rubels that generates more points over the course of the rest of the game.
And since you'll get one point per 10 rubels in the end, it's effectively only 4 points per round you have missed, if that's any consolation.
There are two kinds of fools. One says, "This is old, and therefore good." And one says, "This is new, and therefore better." - John Brunner, The Shockwave Rider
