'Fraid not.

If a given AI has Alphabet, tech trading with that civ is fully enabled. Once they all have it, the game's afoot.

Adv4 is a good concept anyway, though. I had a good time with it. smile

Sullla Wrote:That certainly wasn't unbalanced or anything, of course. I'm sure that Soren intended for us to be able to pick up 15 techs in one turn by playing middleman in the AI trading network. wink Again, not trying to beat this argument to death, but I'm happy with the improvements made from Civ4 to Civ3. Even though they aren't perfect. smile

I'll have you know, if Soren intended the player to pick up 15 techs in a turn, he would have given the player the ability to trade with stupid, unstrategic AIs!

Er... smile

Mind you, I have yet to get bitten by WFYHBTA in Civ4. smile

How about one where the research path is set on the very first turn of the game (by clicking on "future tech" in the tech advisor), and the player may not change research at any time? smile

Tech trading would still be allowed, but without the ability to react to AI research the player could be screwed. Might be fun.

"You can get a quarter of the tech tree for free"

I haven't done the math, but I'd say you can get significantly more than that.

Sounds like fun - I'd be up for it.

Ooh, I like that one. Given how booked up the Adventures and Epics are, perhaps as an SG?

Hmm. I've just spent far too long writing the first piece of an article on the effects of that game, before remembering that we'd be able to *trade* for all the optional techs that path would skip. Duh... smoke

On the other hand, there are some very interesting things that you could miss, doing that. The idea has already begun to grow on me. I might have to play it as a private game, now, one where you can never obtain a tech not directly required for Future Tech, and your own research must lead directly there. But only if people don't want to play it as an SG :D

If there's any more takeup for this game, either way, we should move it to another discussion thread here, or the RB thread at CivFanatics, I think, to avoid cluttering this one with things not directly related to WFYABTA.

You mean I played the entire game just waiting for the AI to come to me and trade, when I could've traded with them the whole time?! [Image: eek.gif]

Wow, I wonder what kind of [Image: smoke.gif] I've been doing!

Well then, I'm sure that my results will be far inferior to most others' given that I took the "Haughty Hatty [w]Ho Hates to Haggle" (TM Pending) option! [Image: smile.gif]

Could very well be the case there!

Speaking of Yellow Jackets, damn you Sirian for exposing me to the wonder that GalCiv II will be!! How am I going to split my limited time between CIV and GalCivII?? [Image: smile.gif]

I pre-ordered the game and have been haunting the website, already pining for it! It reminds me of Imperium Galactica(sp?) II(I?), only much, much cooler!
