First tournament!

I fought valiantly and failed, and now the wife wants me to go to bed. All is not lost, however! Serena has generously offered to fix things up for me and upload the 9 saves tonight, and you're free to start playing as soon as you get your hands on one. Happy gaming (hopefully)!

I'll put up some guidelines for writing good and concise reports tomorrow.

Allrightie, here's the first tournament. band

Rename your chosen race to SAVE1.GAM in your MAGIC-1.40h directory and play.
You know what to do!

And remember, this is about Insecticide 1.40h too, so we expect reports of how good Insecticide works (or reports of yikes critters)!

You may choose any arcane race, there are 9 save files and you just need to pick out the correct one.

Hard difficulty
Medium land mass
4 opponents
Normal node strength

Objective: Reach a power base of 200 (excluding conjunctions and moons) as soon as possible, using any means necessary!

Variant rules:
- Magic Spirit may not be used for exploration!
- You must capture at least 3 cities of pop 5+ from a wizard before attacking his fortress unless the fortress is the last city of the wizard.
- Banned: Coldsteel's 250 production bug.

Looks good! This will be my first game of MoM in quite a while so it'll probably be rough going.

hmm should we post here about what race we're planning on using? It would be kind of boring if everyone ends up using the same races.

Should be modified as:
You must capture at least 3 cities of pop 5+ from a wizard before attacking his fortress unless you absolutely sure that the fortress is the last city of the wizard. Absolutely sure means: The whole map is almost explored (at least unexplored map is known to be in 3 square distance from a city), or, if you has cast awareness.

It is to prevent the case when the wizard never owns more than 3 cities. (The situation is possible: Computer wizards may attach each other).
