Adventure 4 - pindicator's report

Hey, I liked reporting the first time so much I thought I'd try it again. The main report can be found at:

http://pindicator.coconia.net/Adv4/Adv4.html

Here's an executive summary for all those skimmers:

I settled on the spot, focused on mass commerce and mass religions. More religions = more money = more monestaries = faster research. Bogged down a bit by barbarians, so I expanded slowly (a little too slow IMO). Kept on good relations with all the opposing civs and grabbed the tech lead some time around the middle ages, never to let up. Never let up on the missionaries either. A couple golden ages, a lot of trading, and a war that was more inconvenience than anything and I finished with one last golden age (thanks for the pacifism idea Sirian!) to speed up my final space pieces.

Finished with a Space Race victory in 1931AD.

Enjoy!

Nice game. I love the efforts as Assyrian to make it pop another Great Person. Cool stuff. I also find it interesting that I had my similarly-located city as a production powerhouse. Any city can be pretty much anything.....

Where'd you put Oxford? That can make a major difference in tech speed....

I'm pretty sure it went in Thebes, but I took sparse notes on this game. It might have gone in Khazak also, which was a significant commerce producer. I'll check that when I get off work.

It looks like I kept pretty even with research in other reports until later in the game; tech choices towards the latter half of the game might have been a downfall: not picking up Printing Press early, and possibly my route through picking up the space components could have been improved (I did rocketry for apollo, then to sattelites for space elevator, then top of the research tree all the way to fusion, then the bottom of the tree to genetics). And I didn't try any aggressive expansion either.

LOL- March of the Barbs. That cost me Memphis for a turn in my game (literally, for a turn)... In other aspects, our games seemed very similar. Alphabet came in at about the same time, and barbarian swarming cost us both early units. I think that the religions everyone else (seemingly, menos myself, Kylearan and Atlas), yourself included, took lowered their victory time. But that wasn't my focus for this game.

Very nicely played and written wink

AND, most important similarity here, we both correctly determined the shape of each continent (whoever says it was an 's' needs to put on their reading glasses).
