Something ive been trying to get better and better at, is Heroes of Might and Magic 3 ( and trying to find people to play with )
Im using the HD mod which makes things alot easier/faster.
Map setup
I know, i know... playing as necropolis is basically cheating but hey, its on 200% difficulty!
Some nice gold nearby.. Shall update this thread if it gets any interest
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

Heroes 3 was among the earliest computer games I played with my brother, and I come back to it from time to time. Have you tried the HotA mod? The multiplayer scene for that is still pretty active.

I love HoMM3. Second the recommendation for HoTA but HD mod is very good as well.
Nice start. I would drop the army and take the eastern gold with a Wight and scout along the road.
(I have made a balance mod if you are interested)

HOMM3 one of my favorite games of all time!
I would potentially be up for a newbie game at some point. I haven't played MP, but I have watched some.

Yeah, i havent quite got the hang of the optimal drop army/ect to increase travel speed.
But i did get lucky to find a refugee camp so i have a nice unit to tag along with my power stack of Vamps. Really low resource start though so i havent been able to break out or grab liches.

That's another nice thing about HotA, it comes with a pack of random map templates to generate maps more suitable for faster-paced MP games, or just shorter games in general if you want to finish a game in fewer sessions. That said, one of my cherished memories is when my brother and I spent close to half a year IRL beating Pestilence Lake in hotseat mode.

Well... ill have to start a new session. My main hero/army got nearly wiped out trying to attack what i thought was a fairly easy fight. Turns out, forgetting to go back ( after a VERY long trek ) to pick up spells despite having expert wisdom/ect, leaving myself with only basic magic spells to fight with.... Only won the fight due to Vampire lord cheese. Was rough watching my 400 skelly, 8 dread knights, 50 Vampire lords, 1 angel and 1 archdevil become 180 skelly and 7 Vampire lords.. Not easily recoverable.
I really like Necropolis, but im curious what other factions would be fun to snowball.

200% difficulty is a pretty rough challenge to snowball on SoD default (less rich) random map templates, especially if there aren’t as many creature-reward banks to farm. Online MP tends to play on 160% or lower, on richer maps, so of course expectations need to be adjusted accordingly.

I wanted to try a higher difficulty because i can face-roll anything close to "normal" difficulty without any trouble.
