Hello and welcome to my thread. Players, try and stay out till after the game
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

Naming theme will be Pokemon. Its something i grew up playing, and while i dont play it anymore ( stopped playing around Pokemon black/white ) it holds a special place in my heart.

Looks like fintourist is joining us, good news. Otherwise I would've felt very out of place in this gang of elites.

Just wish i knew more about them. No idea if they are TBS/Mackoti level, or more Commodore/Pindicator level of elite. Also what "type" of elite they are as well... Relentless aggression? Master micro? Everything?
Should be fun.

Fintourist is definitely better than me. I'd put him at TBS/Mackoti level.
Anything you want from the map that isn't covered in the settings? I'm going to ask everyone this, so no guarantee that I'll actually use it. Feel free to be as specific or vague as you like, I just want to get a feel for what people would like.
Although I have a feeling I already know you want to be stuck at the end of a landmass

Don't imitate PB48's mapmaking in the sense of the granular details, like how each civ got its own "set" of resources. That was gimmicky.
I'll leave the rest of the comments to SD of course.

Surprisingly i wouldnt mind it being kinda pb42-ish. Big islands, and naval warfare so that maybe i dont think about just rushing someone.
I guess it really depends on how many tiles per player is agreed on/you want to do. Im hoping actual room to expand, so not pb49 size...

I believe we are getting a screenshot before we need to pick ( plus getting a snakepick/play order ) However.. any thoughts on what would be fun to play? I dont really want to go early aggression of any kind, but i do want to shit out cities fairly quickly.
Imp/pro BK, Exp/pro Mao would be my top picks as i still think PRO is rather powerful.
Civ's i kinda want to try... Byzantium. Babylon?
Hmm.... any other fun combos?

I feel like I can shed a little light on this. I wouldn't necessarily call this an elite field by game skills, although definitely a very strong one. Serdoa, Lewwyn, and Gaspar/Noble I'd say were all in the pindicator/Commodore tier you mentioned when they were playing. Serdoa probably had the highest highs of the group, but he's also been gone the longest. That said, I'd definitely bet money on your ded-lurker over all of them were he actively playing in this game.
That said, if they can shake the rust off, they're all strong players. The hype around some of these faces returning is more a mix of nostalgia and entertainment value. I think there will be some high quality threads, and that's more why some folks like myself are looking forward to following this one. Plus Gaspar, Lewwyn, and Serdoa kept ending up in the early PBEM/PBs I played, so I know them well. Bob is definitely a solid player too, but a probably step below the others.
