Possible problem with 1.01.01

Started a game just now, and got a Transmute (uncommon) spell after taking a node.  Then, when I finished researching my first spell (Summoning Circle), I was offered the choice to research Vertigo (uncommon).

Maybe I am missing something, but I don't think I should be offered any uncommon spells at this point?

It's possible to find uncommon spells in treeasure and trade for them at any time.
It's also possible to research them if you don't have any other common spells left to research, if you can afford it.

I guess I wasn't clear.  I was not surprised to find the uncommon spell.  But I was surprised to be offered the uncommon spell to research, when I had hardly started on the common spells -- I had only finished researching the one.  I only mentioned finding the uncommon one because I wondered whether this had inadvertently unlocked uncommon spells for research.

You can only research uncommons if you have no commons left to research.
However the spellbook has 8 slots, so with 7 commons left to research, you can still get an uncomon for the 8th slot.
Depending on your book picks, it's definitely possible to have fewer than 8 common spells left for research after researching only one, even more so if you traded for common spells you could have researched instead.

The other possibility is, if you picked 8 or more books in a realm, you get what is called a "guaranteed early uncommon". The uncommon spells you picked in that category will be available for research from the beginning of the game.
