Our series of Gentle Adventures seems to be going strong. Each event in the series has drawn some first-timer participants, and there are even a few of our strongest players who can't seem to get enough Civ4 and are playing variants of their own making within the series.
Some of you out there (and you know who you are) have been lurking quietly, watching, thinking it would be fun to get in on some of this gaming. Maybe you've downloaded a game, even, and played only part of it, run out of time or suffered some setbacks. Or maybe you've only imagined doing it, but each time you imagine it, the appeal seems to be growing.
You've seen how things have gone for others who took the plunge. You, too, could shed your wallflower status and get out on the dance floor. All it takes is making one choice and then acting on it. ... Adventure Twelve is sitting right there. It's waiting for you. It needs a good home. You could adopt it and take it with you, right now even. You and your Adventure could be dancing through the ancient age in a matter of minutes.

Indeed, the gentle adventures was/is a great idea for attracting new players. It got me to join up and try a couple of games. Now I just need to learn how to finish one. Eventually I will get there. Just watch me!
Seriously, the variety of games you're setting up is just great. At the moment I can only cope with smaller maps and less time-consuming games. Every few months (weeks) there is a game that's just right for me. So thanks for that!

I would have to say exactly the same! Watch me, I'll be posting my first report one day or another!!
I am playing Adventure 10 and I'm failing miserabely!!! Bismarck is kicking my butt! But I'm not dead yet... so I'll try to fight 'till the end!! And then hope to report a shadowgame still...

You might want to edit that post, bud - no spoilers allowed for running events.
EDIT: Wait, it's closed. Sorry.

I think the gentle adventures are a great idea, but I'm not quite up to actually doing them well, yet I tried Adv 10, and was doing fine, albeit slow, up until about 1900 when Biz showed up with monster artillery and infantry stacks and destroyed my grenadiers and cannons. I'm a builder by nature, so I took the opportunity to try to improve my warmongering ways, but it seems I'm still too slow on the offensive. I am, however, replaying a game w/ the same settings to see if I can do better on a second go around, and so far, I think I am.
Anyways, I like the gentle adventures and would love to see them continue. Maybe someday I'll successfully complete enough of them to actually try the other adventures or maybe even an epic!

I may stick a Warlord level game in there now and then. There seemed to be consensus after Adventure One, though, that Warlord was a bit toooo easy for everybody who played in the event.
Adventure Ten was on the upper edge of Gentle, as I said. Prince warmongering game? If the player had started where England started on that map, it would have been a regular Adventure.
Which is ironic, because the player DID start where England started in the original version, before I opened up the Worldbuilder and made a few, ah, "adjustments" in the player's favor. 8)
