Yes, although for events played on the core game, you'll need to use your core game CD and run that version at the time.

I don't mean to sound dense... but does that mean I can't do epic seven with the expansion installed? I have to run from disk instead? Won't that mean I'd be playing without the patches (v1.61) also? Please clarify for me, thanks.

You can. However, you may not do it while running the expanded version. From your desktop or start menu, you need to launch Civ4, not Warlords. You will need your original Civ4 disk in the drive to do that.

The expansion doesn't impact on the previously-installed game in any way, it just creates another folder for the Warlords data, so if you put your Civ 4 cd in the drive you can launch the normal game (probably from the autorun splash screen, in fact).
