What is it about this game that is so addictive?

I've had the "Battlechest" for a bit (I, II, and expansion) and recently loaded up Diablo I. I played for two nights and immediately loaded up II and the expansion, and have been playing ever since.

well, it's probably the way that the game designers made the maps.
I have no evidince yet, but I think that blizzard made the maps fill with words that say 'play Diablo II play Diablo II' so that it gets subliminally fixed in your mind to play it eek

lol, not really but I have no idea why it is so addicting.
