Dotmaps?

Ok, i'm new here and while looking through your reports on the games, many players used dotmaps..... Are they in the game, or do u make them urselves?

Welcome Raven_Lore! smile

Many people use dotmaps to plan territory. You must take a screenshot (Alt+Printscreen) and then edit it using Paint, Photoshop or other picture editing program. The picture will be in the screenshots folder of your CIV file. Good Luck! thumbsup

It is also possible to do an ingame dotmap. If you go to world view, one of the buttons above the minimap allows you to make signs and draw lines. Using the lines, you can make a dotmap, but it can get somewhat messy. I usually use the screenshot way. smile

Also, lines are apparently not saved with the saved game. So I just use signs.

What's the keyboard shortcut for placing a sign? I keep forgetting and its a lot easier to do that than zoom in and out continually (for checking where resources are).

I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I found this over the weekend by going thru every Ctrl+ and Alt+ combination I could think of (while trying a no-war cultural domination game which I finally won thumbsup ). I forget which combo retires your current game but I found that one too. lol

I believe that is ctrl + R. I have "found" that one a number of times when I was not paying attention when turning on the resources with shift + r lol. In fact I start everygame by holding down shift then presing R, then T, the Y. I love the resource highlight, tile grid, and tile yield. It looks a little cluttered at first, but seeing everything, especially the tile yeild is awesome. Helps to know when your governor starts working nasty 2/1/0 tiles, that way you can just whip

Welcome Raven_Lore, BTW no dotmap survives first contact nod

For domination Victory, do you have to get both the population & land or just one?
