Mage player looking for Ironman players.

Hello; i'm Foxhound3857, an active legit (although not purist) player on Classic Diablo. After reading up on basic and advanced strategies for ironman on RBD, I began to practice them with a friend of mine; Attica. Our current Relaxed Fit game is doing alright; we finally made it to floor 16, but I am currently dead with no resses remaining (died 5 times, 3 of which weren't my fault), so he has to work the floor alone.

He's not on very often, so I play solo Lock-In games of IM on Battle.Net with a Warrior whenever a partner is not available. So far, the farthest i've been able to get to is dlvl10...twice. The first time I fell victim to Slayers after running out of reds; the second to Storm Riders with garbage for equipment. The last game I died on dlvl7 to the unique Night Clan Archer; I couldn't believe it. I had 20 reds, a heal stick with 30/36 charges remaining, 2 yellows, a magical ringmail, a ring, baranar's Star, Gnarled Root 9which I started using after seeing THREE different goat archer types on dlvl7) and plenty of useful scrolls. Hell, I even found a BLOOD FOUNTAIN on 7! I can't BELIEVE I died; the unique archer scored a critical hit with 30HP remaining. It was ridiculous. That game could have succeeded; I'm still pissed about it.

Anyway, I'm currently seeking long-term Ironman partners to play with, since Attica and Petre are rarely on, and I don't think I have what it takes to play with people like Roede or Taoni. I'm open to Relaxed Fit OR Lock-In; I prefer the ladder, but either is fine for me. I play as the Mage in team-IM, but I can take up the Warrior position if someone else wants to play as Mage. I don't really like playing as a Rogue in Ironman, so please don't force me unless absolutely necessary.

WHAT!? You mean Taoni_The_Fell and Attica are one in the same? I've mentioned these two to him, and I know that he mentioned Roede being a good warrior ( kept a positive attitude saying that we could make it, and I guess we did, in a way), but he never said anything about Taoni. Maybe this is why...hmm.

Anyways, my friend usually plays Diablo 2 after he gets home from work at 3:30 PM, and he's usually on until he has to go to bed. I can usually get on between 7 PM and 9 PM, and then I'm free to play for 3 or 4 hours. However, since he likes to play in the afternoon, I try to get on in the morning when he's not here. I need to start waking up early to get ready for the college semester, so I can be on at 7 AM if that works for you. I live on the West Coast though (California), so if you live in, say, New York, then it would be 10 AM or 10-12 PM for you.

Once I know whether or not I can get the class I want, I can determine when I'll be able to play better, but I won't be able to play on a school night, so Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (well, once August 28th rolls around, anyway) will be unavailable for me, and possibly Saturdays or Sundays too; it depends on what days off my friend asks for. If he takes Saturdays and Sundays, then Sunday nights will be free. Other than that, Tuesday and Friday nights are a sure thing right now. I'll know more once the semester starts.

Let me know when you're free for sessions and we can work out a schedule for playing.

Well perhaps I'm mistaken. Attika is no slouch though.

I live in Ohio, but I go to work during your evening/night hours. We could try a few of those morning games and see if either of us can stay awake.

Sounds good. If we're shooting for morning games, I can set my clock for 6:30AM and be up by 7 AM (That would probably be 9 AM for you), and that should give me a good 3 or 4 hours to play, depending on how much my sister wants to play. I can do this on Mondays and Wednesdays, and possibly Saturdays depending on my friends work schedule, but this might cancel out Monday.

Petre also wants to do a game with me sometime, and I'm trying to convince him and Attika that a 4-man game might be doable. It would be a first. I'll talk to him about it.

Note: I may have been a bit hasty in trying to set up a 4-man game. Besides the fact that I have never played with Nystul (but have faith in his every ability), I don't know what schedules Attika and petre have to abide by. I know for a fact that Attika lives on the East cost; his time is 3 hours ahead of mine, and I've never seen him on in the morning. I don't know if I've seen Petre on in the morning, but he's never interested in a game anyway.

KoP: If I cannot convince Attika to play a game with us in the future then you're more than welcome to join our game. The more, the merrier.

As for your question, me and Attika play Relaxed Fit, which I guess is close to tournament-issue rules, but our games are so loose (dragging PS down to each concurrent inactive level, for example) that I certainly wouldn't allow them in a tournament. I like strict (Lock-In or "Use it or Lose it") Ironman; I only play Relaxed Fit if that's what everyone else wants.

I would like to try my luck at a tournament if one decides to manifest itself in the future, but until then I'll be practicing.

I was asking about tourneys because I found a little gem last week (while backing up the HD) that would improve IM tourneys.

Oh, I frequently itch for more Diablo but work and other games keep me away. And now with Hellgate London coming up, just when I should be playing less games...

Thanks for the vote of confidence. You might remember, I am especially good at not drinking any potions so my teammates will have plenty available while looking for that res scroll.

Hureg and Attika hosted a lock-in style IM tournament around this time last year. It was a nice effort. They got 7 trios to sign up. Unfortunately most of those teams never finished an IM game, dead or otherwise. On the bright side, the one team that actually did report in defeated Diablo on normal difficulty!

I played with Stuporman and Attika in that tournament. In the dungeons we were quite successful, but scheduling game times was a major problem and then real life problems made it impossible to finish. I haven't played much Diablo since then.
