Well, it looks like we have enough interest to have one anyway

. We'll wait a day or 2 and see if some more people express interest.
@ Alan - I've no problem with scraping old ships when they are no longer useful. It's income saved to do that anyway. I don't like to bait the AI with those old designs either. I'd ratrher let the AI keep paying maintenence on THEIR outdated fleet. I genearlly only build laser fighters to park over colonies that can't (yet) defend themselves with bases anyway, although I have a small map game going on right now that I'm actually attacking with them and with warp 2 nuclear bombers

.
As far as race/level goes, I've been thinking about that today. RBO1 featured the Bulrathi, and RBO2 featured the Klackons, so I don't wan't to play them. The last Imperium and my afforementioned private game feature(d) the Darloks, so thats out.
Of the other 7 races, only the Humans and the Sakkra have yet to surface in an Imperium. I suspect, but do not know, that the Huge/Impossible Imp 6 probably features one of them, most likely the Sakkra as they are the easiest race to learn how to play a huge map on since rex'ing won't leave you population hosed. Because of that, I'd rather avoid the Sakkra. Most people don't like playing the humans much......
So where does that leave us?
Well, how about this:
Imp 5 featured the Silicoids in a small galaxy, which is totally suited to them in most cases, although the layout of that particular map wasn't as favorable for the race as it could have been. How about we try them in a Large galaxy (no way I'm playing a Huge in a SG

), where the population growth rate can be a serious problem for them. We could play this on Hard or Impossible.
Annother idea would be the Alkiri on hard in a large galaxy with a can only build small or medium ships (except for colony ships of course) restriction, which would make ship designing interesting if the game went into the higher tech levels (auto repair = worthless, how to fit repulsors/dissipators/bhg's/etc. onto designs..)
Finally, we could try the Mrrshans with no trade/nap's/alliances ever (we COULD make peace treaties though. Lets not go "allways war" here, not yet anyway.)
I'd kind of prefer to use the first idea, since it's a non varient, unless others prefer otherwise. Then we could keep the other 2 ideas in reserve for later.
The only requirement for a start would be a habitable planet of at least size 40 within 3 parsects of the homeworld, or at least 60 if it's Ultra Poor.
Turn order will be determined randomly unless somone prefers a particular slot. Turns will be 20-20-15-15-10 thereafter.
The game will be played over at CFC as allways, since they have the convenient upload server.
Unless anyone objects, I think we should set a minimum victory level of at least 50% of the pop + having recieved the "leaders are preparing to merge with us" message, or 2/3 of the pop to make sure we all get a couple of turns each.
I'm probably not going to be arround tomorrow, but should be arround saturday night, so we could either get started Saturday night or Sunday night.
