RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Gandhi of Korea (Broker33 & plako)

Selection has been done and we got Gandhi of Korea. Korea's UU is Hwacha a catapult with bonus against melee and UB is Seowon a University that gives 35% science rate increase instead of normal 25%. They aren't exceptionally strong, but not that bad either. Philosophical gets a bonus for building Universities so we might get opportunity for a very early Oxford.

I don't know how well Gandhi's traits work in MP game (Trying out is part of the fun). He is well suited for running Specialist economy and keeping up with others with bulbing and trading techs, but here tech trading is off. I've a feeling we'll need also some commerce cities especially, if we can't get pyramids.

Concerning possible religion shot in the beginning. Following nations alongside with us start with Mystisicm: HRE, Inca, India, Byzantium. There are couple of too many for my liking so I suggest we won't start with Polytheism or Meditation. This naturally depends on what we see 1st, but preliminarily I think our early tech path should be:
Agri or Fishing -> BW

After this we should decide, if we want to take a shot at Oracle or go towards Writing.

We could start with worker or warrior depending on the improvable tiles. If we go for Fishing 1st, Warrior is probably better.

Currently there aren't much happening. We're waiting the map to be finished. There seems to be lot of discussion going on in Spoiler threads, but "free" threads have been quiet lately.

Ok so we dont have a map yet so not a whole lot of discussion to be made regarding settling or Tech path.

I think you are right about going worker tech/bw and seeing where we are at but we could get a good tile at the capital that would change that.

I went for religion first in last game and am still trying to catch up on the expansion.

We're online and here is our start.

Preliminary thoughts:
Settling either on place or possibly 1E seems best. 1E would bring 1 more hill on BFC. That might be beneficial, but we lose 1 turn with it. Warrior should probably move NW to check what we would lose in case we move settler.

Techwise both Fishing and Agriculture seems viable. I've minor preference on Agriculture now, but that might change after making some tests. If we start with Agriculture worker 1st seems best start.

Fur is bad tile to work, but it provides essential happiness boost so we need also Hunting in near future.

I agree with move the warrior nw before we settle. I clicked on the setler and there were no blue circles. Not that I use that but it sometimes tells you if there is a resource in the fog.

Looks like we are in the far north. Boreal trees I hate those smile (see other game)

2 thoughs on tech path

Irrigated plains wheat would be 5/1/1 while crab is 4/0/2. Dont see any pigs or cow so dont need AH right away but should clear both Hunting and ag before ah.

Land to the south and close if there is a connection great if not we may need to get sailing sooner than later as south is the better choice for settling assuming the trees are correct smile

Going fishing first allows a warrior first for extra exploring. Worker first probably better growth.

I tend to settle in place never like losing those initial turns unless the warrior move shows that moving is much better.

I moved warrior. Seems quite nice in the North. e.g. another Wheat resource.

Actually looking at the 2nd screenshot it looks like this is one of those times that I may actually move the settler.

We lose 2 grasslands (one of which is across water and we wont be able to improve it to gain 1 grass hill and a coast.

Capital would have 8 base commerce and 15 base hammer at size 7. That dosent include the 3F 2C lake and the rest is grassland or coast, we could cottage the grassland or farm it for specialist.

Since we wont be going for early religion (I wouldnt suggest it without a 2c tile) the lost turn for a stronger capital seems worth it.
