vmxa was interested in the possibility of another OSG starting. I don't have any ideas at this time, but we might be able to pull enough people together to start one. Who would be interested in sponsoring an OSG?
A new OSG?

Haven't the faintest idea how OSGs work and can't help you. But once again I give you, sir, my frowny. Here.
It is just a sucession game of Moo1. A number of players take the latest save and play a set number of turns and make an AAR and post the save.
Here is a link to one :
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=106941 I like to read anything about Moo1/2 and found these to be entertaining. I had hope to find a few to read.
I'd be interested in playing one, but I'm not really sure how to sponsor. I've won 2 of 3 on impossible (psilons and klackons ), so I'm not completely clueless, but nothing too hard, please.
Sponsoring is easy. Pick some game parameters, maybe some thematic and interesting restrictions on play, and post your idea here. If people seem interested, then you can start a game thread at CivFanatics and post the game start position there.
Some of you may remember me from earlier, I was the guy who kept failing to participate in any games because of computer problems. They have been solved now, and I would love to sponsor a succession game if anyone is interested in participating.
Ideas: - no missiles on ships - no threats - Darloks/Huge/Impossible/5 players - no Espionage until Final War - scouts may not be used to "defend" planets from enemy scouts and colony ships, you may only send warhips and colony ships to scouted planets These restrictions are meant to curb some of the imbalances in the game and help the AI where it is weak, providing a greater challenge.
Darlocks with no espionage might be a bit harsh... would just mean you want a final war as quickly as possible.
Darlocks would still have their higher spy defence and sabatage abilites...but espionage is the most usefull.I suppose you could still make wars between the AI with sabatage, just at no benefit to yourself. Melkar might be more fun?
I'm not that interested in a game on Huge, but with a few more responses and a smaller map I could be persuaded. Though I'd rather go with Darloks. Meklars is too easy.
The thing is that Espionage is typically a very strong choice and a no-brainer with Darloks. I would very rarely use Darlok spies for anything else, unless I have cleaned their universities. What I'm aiming for is a game where some of the imbalances are curbed to get more of a challenge, which is why I want to limit Espionage to Final War. Final wars can be won, of course, but rushing to Final War on Impossible is a daring project.
Map size won't have to be Huge, would you prefer Large or Medium? Harsher ideas: 1) Letting the player start out with Improved Robotic Controls III 2) Moving most planets down one step on the mineral richness scale and moving some of the inhospitable planets up one step This would force you to go looking for those Normal and Rich planets in order to be able to get any real shipbuilding capacity, and makes factory construction slightly less important. It'll also help us settle our old discussion regarding factories on poor worlds. |
