We are playing Flauros of the Calabim. A few observations.

He's FIN. FIN is the best trait in FFH, because Aristofarms are so effective.

He's ORG. ORG is a third tier trait in FFH (even on Emperor). The silver lining is that Governor's Manors are half cost. A Courthouse is 120H. A Governor's Manor is 180H. A Flauros Governor's Manor is 90H.

The Calabim have great UBs. The Brood Pit is expensive at 120H, but its better than a Granary or Smokehouse. I don't typically build many of them. The Governor's Manor, however, is pure uber. it gives 1H per pop point (give or take). That's just crazy.

The Calabim have solid UUs. Bloodpets are fairly ordiniary. I like Burning Blood, but I don't typically build a lot of Moroi. The bread and butter is the Vampire. They're expensive, but they can Feast, which means lots of promotions. They can cast Haste. Summon Spectres. Nice units.

The Calabim have a mediocre worldspell. River of Blood helps you grow and hurts your opponents, which in an MP environment is a two edged sword. In SP, there is no diplomatic fallout so things are a bit different.

The Calabim have a good Hero. She can take risks that other heros cannot due to gaining the Immortal promotion after each successful combat.

The one thing is the Calabim need time to get rolling. If we get stuck next to Mahala it is going to be very crippling. We don't have a strong world spell like the Ljosalfar to lean on, so its pretty much spam Warriors and probably a Bronze Working path instead of a Code of Laws path.

I setup an e-mail address for our team. Its djsun.calabim at the usual e-mail service.

I'll be lurking with interest! And vague, non-committal comments :neenernee

I do have one question - can you give me an idea of the mechanics of feasting? How much XP a unit does a unit get from Feasting? I had thought it was the city population, but when playing the Calabim recently, it wasn't that much. So something else must be taken into account.

Also, how does the Feasting unhappiness work? It seems to be +1 unhappy if you've feasted lately, but doesn't stack? How long do I have to wait for it to go away? I did notice when I feasted on a recently captured city, the resistance time went up.

It's pretty straightforward: XP = population - 3

Feasting unhappiness is like whip unhappiness, but feasting only adds three turns of unhappiness to the whip count (the count is decremented each turn; a count of 1-10 adds 1 unhappy face, 11-20 adds 2 unhappy faces, etc.).

I see sunrise089 did a poor job enticing lurkers to post in our thread while I was out on vacation lol.

It's true. I think the best these guys can hope for is huge GChat text dumps wink

Aside from that, I don't want to go too deeply into strategy until we know whether lurkers will be entering the game later.

That's a plains hill we are on. I see no reason not to settle in place. Five grassland river tiles, Wheat and Wine. Its nice.

I wonder if this is a highlands map.

We should pop that hut with our Scout...too bad its not swapped with the Warrior but what can you do?
