How to become rich by the time you leave Pre-Sear

Well, maybe not really rich. Just rich enough to buy all of the armor upgrades in Post-Sear Ascalon, depending on how much time you put into it. I've done this with my last two characters and it's pretty easy.

The key is salvaging collection items, specifically Skale Fins. Skale Fins salvage into Scales, and a stack of 10 Scales usually sells at the Material Trader for 120-180 gold. That's about 15 gold per Scale (not including the salvage gear cost). It's a pretty decent return on a few second's time spent killing a lowly Skale. Don't do the 5 Skale Fins > Belt Pouch trade with the collector outside Ascalon. 5 Skale Fins translates to 75 gold in post-sear, and you can get a Belt Pouch from the collector outside Ashford Abbey by turning in 5 Worn Belts.

It's pretty easy to run up and down the river in pre-sear a few times and amass a decent amount of Skale Fins. You don't even have to dedicate much extra time to do this -- just use the river to run between map points and kill Skales as you go.

Normal Salvage and Identification kits cost 4 gold for each use. Expert Salvage kits cost 8 gold/use.

A Skale Fin sells for 3 gold, selling Scales for ~15 each is a 8 gold increase when adding in the cost of the Salvage kit.

Also pick up the flowers to sell, 5 gold each and they stack.

Green Gloom went out of pre-Searing with 1 plat & ~100 gold. That went away fast but I did get most of the second best Necro set (lacked the Scar Pattern).

I am not sure if getting rich in Pre School is worth the cost, tho. Pre Searing is good as a game intro for the newb, and then a place to grab a few free skills.

Half Moons, a Mo/Ne (My first char) entered Post at lvl 5-6 and started to do quest around Ascalon and toward the Sanitarium first. It was too easy. Then she took on the The Great North Wall and beyond at her 8th birthday and found it a good clvl for the area. I think clvl 7 would have been more fun for her, if I knew how to get around.

Demi Maul, El/Wa played as a Wa/El, entered Post at lvl 3 and started The North Wall at 6. Entering Post at Clvl 3 allowed her to run around and get the early quests and free skills, then the North Wall at Clvl 6, without feeling the game was too easy. There were a few deaths, but that is a good thing - a few dumb move but mostly because I was pushing it.

And this is solo with henchies, the game would be somewhat to quite a bit easier if questing with other PC's (especially RBers [Image: smoke.gif])

I would recommend leaving Pre School at 3 and start toward the North Wall at 6 for a nice balance of challenge, and possibly younger once the player become more familiar with the game.

Getting rich may leave you poor in game experience. YMMV.
