The Most Unintentionally Hilarious Cutscene?

We all have one, a cutscene that should be quite severe and serious, but turned into something akin a comedy due to an unintentional feature of the game engine, poor voice acting, or some other variable. What's yours?

Mine has to be the final Riverside Province cutscene. We barely scraped to the bridge alive, triggering the cutscene.

First of all; Bledri, my pet, managed an Wile E. Coyote moment as he made it onto the bridge three seconds after it dropped. I scrambled for the print screen key as his little paws trod thin air just to return to my side, but was too slow, alas.

Then it turned out that some of the White Mantle made it across the bridge before Bledri, and proceeded to spend the rest of the cutscene hacking chunks out of one of the party members (fortunately not me) while we had that big ol' chinwag with Evennia. It was hilarious. Had it not been for cutscene invulnerability, he would have died seven times over. I half expected someone in the cutscene to turn to the White Mantle and yell "Hey, will you knock it off!? We're trying to discuss your downfall here!"

Err cutscene invulnerability? Not quite.

I recently ran Somewhat Zen through the Dunes of Dispair mission just to jack up the last bit of cash needed to finish her set and because that was her last staging point for the last damask run that she had done. The group had a few numbskulls in it and ignored the centaur patrol in favour of running off after the completely pointless seige wurms (pointless unless someone's desperate for bleached shells). So pinging the map frantically on the patrol when the rest of the boneheads were wiping out the mesmer snake, killed the snake, entered the cutscene and promptly started clicking skip button as the patrol started whacking away on the group in the first few seconds.

Bar one.

The warrior wanted to watch the bloody thing, damn his idiocy to the smelliest corner of my dirty socks, and by the time the movie finally ended, two of us had dead characters on the floor and mine had been at full life to begin with. That player could potentially have screwed the mission for the other four.

I've seen a cutscene attack once before when the giant pack at Thunderhead Keep snuck through the intangible gates and started thumping the group while Vizier Buttmunch was busily yammering on about prophesies and some of the group had definitely taken some hits on that one by the time the last player hit "Skip".

Anyway, funny moments.

1.) There's a common phenomenon whereby the group lineup will have a discordant note where one character will be facing in the opposite direction. Ice Blade managed this in a particularly severe moment while Evennia was lamenting the death of Saidra one time. He was dutifully inspecting the integrity of the ice ship to ensure that the thread of prophesy did not get broken by one of the ascended getting brained by a fallen mast.

2.) A few of the guild recently ran off to bag the Iron Mines bonus and and I think that was the one where we went and killed Markis and his Jade cronies for something to do afterwards. Whatever the cicumstances we were treated to a humourous piece of cinema as a pet turky strutted through almost every shot, whistling contentedly, and presumably pecking out Markis' eyeballs. smile

3.) Ice Blade again and this time it was the cutscene in the last mission where hewhowillremainnamelessforspoilerreasons is taken down by the party and then begs for release from his torment. The cutscene messed up a few character positions in that one, with one person inspecting the horizon during the team lineup and the nameless himself seated further forward so that Ice Blade as the party leader was addressing and bowing to a vacant point behind his back.

4.) Thunderhead Keep and a PuG group that actually succeeded. Six of us ran through the portal, while two remained behind preferring instead to stay in the party lineup. So there's the lich, delivering much exposition on his dastardly plan as he walks right past the pair on his way to the gate. No wonder he fails. As any villain from a batman TV series episode will completely fail to understand, dastardly plans stand a better chance of success if the heroes out to stop them don't have any inkling of their every twist and turn.

Another somewhat humorous point in that scene, if the leader doesn't have a weapon equipped there will be the message saying "You must have a weapon equipped to attack" and your char will just stand there while the unnamed person still dies.

I find it somewhat humorous that the leader doesn't hesitate or say something like "are you sure this is what you want?" before wasting him.

I guess it does vary between cutscenes. In my attempt at Sanctum Cay, one of the people in the PuG decided to talk to the Vizier while the rest of us were tangling with Inferno Imps. The Imps kept slamming us through the cutscene, and despite 5 out of 6 people wanting to skip the cutscene it turned out that the guy leading the party really wanted to see it.

Cutscene ended, and we were still at the same health we were before the leader triggered the cutscene. So it does exist, in some cases.
