New previews at Apolyton

I'm sure most have seen or hard of this already but Markos and Solver but have previews up for the game.

Nice stuff in there for those who haven't been testing this thing for the past 3 months or more, lol. smile

There is also a large preview up on CivFanatics written by CivRules today too. smile

Hmm, lots of information going out as we get closer to release day. There may be a few more surprises as well when Civ4 finally gets released to the public. wink

I remember there were some nice (albeit short-lived) surprises when C3C was released. lol

Well, I've been following the previews with some interest. There was mention made that fewer workers are required in Civ4, fewer (but more distinctive) military units, and fewer cities, and that the game in general has been streamlined to some degree (hopefully including diplomacy.) That sounds somewhat promising to me.

Still, I'm not certain whether I will buy the game immediately when it comes out, and if I do, I'm not certain whether I will start playing immediately. I am likely to get the game at some point... but before I do, I'm really hoping to see some feedback from some of the veterans here focussing on the micro issue. Is anyone planning to write a capsule review of some sort when the game comes out, possibly as part of a report for an initial game?

Hi,

Inspired by Sirian's "First World" report of his first ever Civ 3 game which was very entertaining to read (I tend to find reports about games with a lot of mistakes more interesting than reports of perfect games), I intend to post a detailed report of my first ever Civ 4 game. Naturally, it will highlight the differences between Civ 3 and Civ 4, as I'm sure I will do a lot of smoke based on outdated Civ 3 habits, so it might be interesting for you to read.

And somehow I'm sure there won't be a lack of similar reports from other veterans once the game is out... wink

I'm not planning to do a First World report this time. I'm glad that others will take up the slack. smile

I'll be doing a first-world report. I've spent the past month creating a new website to house my Civ4 reports. Hope you guys like it!

Kinda hard to do that first "anything" report when someone's a consultant for Firaxis for awhile.lol
