My take:
Yuris vs. 2metraninja: even money I don't know 2metraninja at all; Yuris is a decent player with a couple games under his belt. Catwalk vs. Mack: not taking bets I'd say this is pretty much a sure thing. Scooter vs. Bob: Scooter 3:2 Bob is a good player and entertaining reporter, but I don't think his micro matches up to Scooter's Dazed vs. Lewwyn: Lewwyn 2:1 I think Lewwyn's aggressive style is ideally suited for a duel.
Yuris vs. 2metraninja
2metraninja by a lot, I think he's got quite a bit more experience dueling. Catwalk vs. Mack 5% chance Mackoti gets depressed at his matchup and forfeits / goes into hiding. Scooter vs. Bob Scooter easily. His play is sometimes a bit cute but Bob's is My Little Pony cute. Dazed vs. Lewwyn This is the hardest to call IMO, but I'd pick Lewwyn 3:2 as he really gets into these things and plans stuff out pretty well.
Yuris vs. 2metraninja
I have no idea anything about 2metraninja, so he could be another Fierce for all I know. Still, this sort of format does not remotely play to yuris strengths, so I'll plump for the new guy. Catwalk vs. Mackoti I'm going to put even money that Catwalk gets emo and asks someone to take his spot before this matchup is fully over. Obviously only Mackoti getting brain damage beforehand could cause him to lose. Scooter vs. Bobchillingworth The American bracket is a lot more competitive than the European version, where anything other than a mackoti roflstomp would be a shock. Both players are relatively experienced in the format. I'll go for Bob, but should be a decent matchup. Dazedroyalty vs. Lewwyn Lewwyn. I think the format plays to his strengths and Dazed can get a little sloppy. Lewwyn is pretty much an all or nothing player. I think this will either be a rout for Lewwyn or a long match where Dazed gives Lew plenty of time to implode on himself and then wins.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
Gaspar Wrote:The American bracket is a lot more competitive than the European version, where anything other than a mackoti roflstomp would be a shock. The problem is that any bracket with Catwalk in it is effectively a 3 man group. I'd also say that whatever group Mack would end up in, he would probably be favorite. Therefore I ditched aside any player strength consideration and went for ease of arranging match times. There should be much less hurdles for pairs on the same continent. That said, I echo Seven's expectations for this round and have Mack, 2metra, Scooter and Lew in the finals. Mist Wrote:Mack pick for game with Catwalk Hah, and that helps Mack right there too. Besides the ~1% chance that Catwalk makes Mack commit suicide from sheer confusion, the match will obviously be a cakewalk, but it ought to be interesting to bet on how soon; I say within twenty turns, death by warrior.

From scooter's thread:
Quote:Let's just make a gentleman's agreement to not use Byz. This should NOT be permitted! The whole idea is that you only get to use each strong thing once. If you collude with someone to restrict which things you can pick, you can gain an unfair advantage in your other matches. Edit: I agree with them that wanting to ban Byzantium in a Ren start is a quite reasonable desire. However in the tournament rules as they stand, their solution is a no-no. I don't think that was the intent there, although they are min-maxing with regards to the the traits they use for each era. If anicient is the default, there's no issue with them haivng Byz open...their rivals are welcome to stick to ancient if there is an issue. As I see neither "Seven Spirits" nor "Krill" on the docket, this is a forgone conclusion that Mackoti wins at a relaxed trot anyway.
