To start the tournaments, that is.

As proud as we are of Rule #10, we'd rather not implement it just yet. tongue

According to threads on the big boards, the patch is due this week.

For CIV, the only tournament games that will be called "Epics" will be played on Epic speed. The other games will be "Adventures". Both will have the same general structure of the Epics from Civ3.

New games always need a patch for quick fixes for configurations they missed in testing (such as the ATI card problems.) I would expect the first patch to concentrate mostly on technical problems and not as much on gameplay problems or balance changes. Later patches will work more on the latter, as problems are uncovered by the gaming community. Even if the development house has a quality testing program and adequate time for testing, there is only so much testing you can do in-house. Especially in an industry where release-then-patch is not just a survivable business model, but the norm.

Yeah, I'm hoping they fix the performance.

I've got better than recommended specs on my machine, but CivIV is simply unplayable even with graphic details set to low across the board.

Truth is, I should think the game is unplayable at min spec.
