Why do I not find any files in Assets

XML folder also is empty, well the Assest folder has one other folder.

I thought it was due to some filetype being hidden, but most folders say 0 bytes.

So where are the data that has things such as values used for levels and such. Can you edit them (to read only) with a hex editor or notepad or do you need a an XML editor?

Thanks.

Well, my Assets folder has 1.39 GB of data in it, with 5 folders. Is your copy running?

Wow, yeah it ran fine from day one. I did have a couple of those black tile issues and I grabbed the current driver and have not seen that one.

I have finished 3 or 4 games, even played one past 2050AD with the idea of trying nukes, but I never did try them.

I wonder if since it stuck the game in Document under Ken-blahblah, if it thinks I am not an admin and is blocking me from seeing contents?

Maybe when the patch comes out I will uninstall and force it to install in Program Files.

Ok, I uninstalled, deleted all files. Reinstalled and got them now. The difference is that whenit tried to default to install for all users, I unchecked that.

Anyone else had this problem? I also have an empty Assets folder, but the game does run. I have had problems with all the in-game videos (wonders and victory), and occasionally leaderheads missing. The files I have found, under \My Documents\My Games\Firaxis.... are mostly empty folders, 18MB total, and I know the game is larger than that! But I can't find any other folders. Do I need to uninstall? Or would the 'UnPAK' fix work? I appreciate any help.

Also, the manual said there was an option to play the movies independently from the game (from the Advanced menu) but it's not there? Conversely, there's also no option (that I've found) to disable the movies, if they don't work, I'd rather disable them than have them freeze the game for a minute or two when I complete a wonder. Any suggestions?

The My Documents --> address should be empty. That should only contain your saved games and CivilizationIV.ini file, which can turn off your movies if you edit it with notepad and search down to movies.

Default is C:\Program Files\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets . I've got mine on D:\ Personally.

Missing leaderheads? I never had that problem. They seem to use pixel shaders 2.0, so if your video card doesn't support that, they won't appear.
