PB7 just finished up. Others have recently too. Perhaps there's interest in more games! I thought it would be worth trying having a thread where we can discuss what kinds of games we would like to see the most.
I'm still interested in a renaissance team sequential pitboss, or something similar. I would like to see another Civ V pbem, though I would want to lurk, not play. And any kind of pitboss or pbem has a chance of catching my interest, especially since I'm only playing one game right now and the turns take only a minute. Maybe another big pitboss with, er, clearer rules would be in order? Or, perhaps a game reusing one of the better old PBEM maps would be cool. You tell me!

Are there any other total conversion mods (like FFH) out there which can handle PBEM relatively well? Might be fun trying one of those out.

Are any of the BtS scenarios any good? I don't know, never much of a scenario person, but if one or two are really solid that could be an option too. I'm also always interested in reviving my crackpot "start with 2 great people" PBEM idea.
Good thread. :thumbusp:

I'm still really interested in running a renaissance teamer pitboss at some point, though do not have sufficient time to play it at present.
I'm also interested in seeing another Civ5 PBEM, and Scooter's 2 Great Person PBEM concept.
On the whole, I'm keen on lurking/playing variant games. We've run a lot of Ancient Era BTS games, and have the winning strategies largely figured out. I think we should move towards mixing things up

Rego needs to get in here and post is "worst" civ/leader idea. It was spawned from the CFC Pitboss leader discussion.

I'm also interested in doing a ren teamer (or for that matter any teamer would be alright with me).
Although a ren teamer would be my first choice, I'd also be up for a AW/CTON game (perhaps with some variation like scooters, or also a more standard one).

While we're in the brainstorming mode, here are some ideas that are popping out of my head. They might be completely terrible, but who cares?
1. Advanced start
2. No Workers Variant - you start with two Workers and are unable to build any more.
3. A completely desert map with no forests, water, or grains.
4. A game with some sort of victory point system. '1 point for having ten cities under your control at any time,' '10 points if the Egyptians are dead by the end of the game. '-5 points for building a nuke.'
5. You pick the other player's civ and leader for them. Player 1 picks the leader and civ for Plater 2, and so on and so on.
6. You start with every tech needed to build spaceship parts. However, you only have one city to start with. You have to balance expansion and actually building the parts themselves.
7. How about Hannibal's Muse v2? Run the snake pick, except instead of leader vs. civ, it's wonder vs. leader/civ combo. First pick of wonders gets last pick of leader/civ.
More people have been to Berlin than I have.

There are only a couple mods that look not ridiculously awful, and they still have problems. Top 3 (other than FFH of course) IMO:
Rise of Mankind
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=243166
A kitchen sink mod, the philosophy is basically "bts doesn't have NEARLY enough things in it!" Surely horribly imbalanced, might be fun to explore a bit though.
The Ancient Mediterranean
http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=206
In many ways, a fairly classy looking mod with a completely new set of techs, buildings, and units. It looks mostly well-put-together but maybe not very well designed. Things tend to have miniscule effects.
Legends of Revolution
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=325253
Tries to be expansion-like, except that it includes this big bundle of popular mod changes, including revolutions (not promising for competitive MP games), influence driven war (ugh), and ranged attacks (and more). However it makes all of these optional. The main other thing it does is a couple minor changes to the tech tree (mostly post-liberalism), and it adds World Units (only one can be built, e.g. with Polytheism and copper you can build the "300 Spartans" unit which is like a massively souped-up Phalanx.
A few months back I looked over these mods and more, really searching for a good variant to play, but ultimately didn't find any of them personally compelling.
A more interesting variant might be e.g. an earth scenario. I think this would need to be played as a pitboss with very-well-considered double-move rules. It might even require a mod. The European countries are just incredibly cramped.
