All right, so the orders for this map were lightly edited Mirrorland and casual was said about 78 times in setup. So I decided to casually edit a Mirrorland map. I rolled 3 or 4 - the script has a tendency to spit out some incredible capitals eventually I just gave in and went with one that was mildly more interesting than corn/gold/copper. I didn't want any hidden pre-industrial resources at the cap, either. Anyway, I should note I left the preplaced improvements on and barbs off - they made no indication on either and I thought both fit the spirit of the setup. I bulldozed a plains hill and put a plains cow in its place, mostly because I didn't want anyone moving, but also because I like to give Commodore plains cows. Sue me. Here's what the starting area looks like:

It also spit out more of 5 inland seas than the typical waterways I got on the first few rolls. I don't know if I love it per se, but I like an island or two. Here's what those inland seas look like.

And here's the inbetween area:

Here's a copy of the wbs if anyone wants to take a look at it. I've not converted to MP and edited the difficulties, etc yet, figured I'd wait til I had a winner.

You should place barb cities with rifles next to each start. But not right next to each start, so there be some time before they find it. And give barbs soem techs. I know, barbs are off, so no more barbs will spawn.

I like the look of that map a lot, actually.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Oooh, and some Barbarian Submarines, too. It's been a while since T-Hawk got to demonstrate his mid-game editing skillz mischief.

Actually, I have one partially serious comment, mostly because I don't remember the line of sight rules. Is is possible for them to spot the ocean T0? If not, I'd be tempted to bulldoze forests until it is. In case someone wants to try the Regoarrarr gambit.

Still, map looks good and interesting, possibly doesn't need any changes.
